| Non-Sporting Group Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group do not fit the criteria of the other breed groups, or may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs all make wonderful family companions. |

Small or Medium?
This may sound a little stupid, but i have to ask. Is the Shiba Inu a small breed or a medium size breed? I think its a medium size breed, but ppl say different. Please let me no, and no laughing.

As the owner of a Chihuahua I'd say it was right on the line between small and medium. A breed any larger than the Shiba is definatley without doubt medium sized and a breed any smaller than the Shiba is definately small.
Hmmm...that didn't help much did it? LOL Sorry. Personally, when comparing it to my dog I'd say it's a medium size dog...just at the smaller end of the medium size spectrum (if that makes sense?). Cass. |

I to agree. My Mom's Rusty isn't as small as my Pug. He isn't as big as my sister's English Bulldog either.

All things are relative. LOL....that reminds me when I went to a fast food place and ordered a small Coke. They said they don't have small....just medium and large. And I said, "If you have medium, then that is implying the middle of something, so you must have small too, if you have large and medium." The poor girl looked absolutely blank. LOL!
Did that help???? ROFLOL. I would say the dog is on the low end of medium. If you compare to an Irish Wolfhound, I'd say it was small. If compared to a 2 LB Chihuahua, I'd say it was rather large. But over all....yup, low/medium. |

I don't go to the movies. I bring movies here. I've just discovered the snack sized, microwaveable popcorn. Now I don't have to waste. There's large and there's snack sized. No small, no medium. LOL.
Oh dear....I'm starting to sound like Andy Rooney. |
