| Non-Sporting Group Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group do not fit the criteria of the other breed groups, or may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs all make wonderful family companions. |

I've never heard of a boston terrier bulldog before? Do you mean a "Boston Terrier", or is this a mix? Would love to see pictures!

I wondered. The dog in your avatar appears to be a Boston Terrier to me. Many people often refer to the Boston Terrier as a Boston Bulldog although that isn't really what their called. Maybe thats where you got the name from?I have the same thing happen often with my breed of choice, I have Bulldogs but alot of people call them English Bulldogs. Really there is no such thing as an English Bulldog but it's kind of a "slang" term used by alot of folks. |

Isn't the Boston Terrier derived from a bulldog/terrier mix? |

You're right rmci, but what Sonja is saying is...it's not 'English' Bulldog it's "British" Bulldog.
![]() I always thought British and English were correct and interchangable but actually now that I know 'english' is wrong, it does irritate me a tad as well. Cass. |

Your little dog is cute. Boston terriers are non sporting dogs not actually terriers though. I made a boston terrier thread in the non sporting section not that long ago.

Why change your avatar? Your dog is gorgeous.
Your dog is a Boston Terrier, sometimes called a Boston Bulldog by people although that is not the correct name for the breed. In the AKC Boston Terriers are in shown in a group called the 'non sporting' group, rather than in the terrier group (probably because it's a bully breed rather than a true terrier). See? Nothing confusing about that. ![]() Cass. |

i like to change things alot. and something is going on with mitzey. i'm so worried. today or tommorow, she's goign to the vet. and they might say we have to put her down. she lost her hearing monday. and she is now going blind in her left eye. she is blind in her right eye. and her ears bug her. it's totally sad.

That doesn't sound like she needs to be put down. Being deaf and blind isn't the end of the world, it just means that you have look after her a little more than other dogs. She'll do fine.
However if she lost her hearing so fast she may have a problem with her ears...perhaps something is in them? Please don't jump to the "we have to put her down" conclusion yet. That's a last resort for extreme cases only. Not for hearing loss or blindness. Cass. |
