| Non-Sporting Group Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group do not fit the criteria of the other breed groups, or may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs all make wonderful family companions. |

I like standard poodles the best, they seem alot more friendly then the toys and minis.I always see toy poodles and mini poodles barking and going nuts and then when I meet a standard they are either very diginified or goofy and playful!
My cousin's mom (I don't call her an aunt...but thats a long story) had a poodle/terrier mix and he was the sauciest thing ever. But not because he was poodle, only because he wasn't trained and ran the house.AND she would feed him human food, including chocolate. You couldn't laugh near him, have fun near him, walk near him if he had a toy or treat or raise your hands near him (even if you went to point at something in the other direction,if he was near you, watch out!).He would go nuts, biting and barking and just going nuts. And well Betty would just not bring him in to get trained or even checked at the vet.He passed a few yrs ago. |

I was born into a poodle household. My mother had two toy poodles, an Apricot named Melanie (She was 17 at the time), and a black named Jay Jay (he was 15). They passed away when me and my twin brother were a year old. Several months after my mom recovered from their death (She had them since they were tiny puppies), she got another toy poodle, Joey. I was raised with him. When he was 10 years old, we had recently rescued a pregnant husky mix off the streets...she ended up attacking him, and he died instantly. He was always referrered to as our Triplet. Everyone was devastated when he was killed.
![]() I would love another toy poodle someday. he did the cutest thing, when he peed..He stood on both front paws, and walked around doing a hand stand..It was the funniest thing to watch. Theres a pack of 4 standards that come to the dog park all the time (What was that lady thinking! lol). Those dogs are the most active dogs I have ever seen. The scare the begeebers out of my dogs every time. They don't have manners at all..obviously the owners fault. She needs to train those dogs. |

If ever I would get another larger dog it would be a standard poodle. I don't know why I never had one instead of a GSD, wolf/GSD, Lab and Rotti. The wolf/GSD was my favorite out of that group. Then I started with the small guys. Pekignese, Westie, Boston, Chihuahua and Yorkies. Since I'm retired the smaller dogs fit my lifestyle much better now, but I wish I had gotten a standard Poodle years ago.

I think Poodles are awesome, but not a breed I'd ever own. I've always put a lot of time in and energy into my dogs, but not with grooming requirements. LOL I would be aweful owning a breed that needed brushed or trimmed. If I owned a Poodle it'd likely look like a giant matted fluffball.
For this reason, I stick with short coated breeds that only need a quick once over every few days, and never need a haircut! ![]() |

I care for and help train a Standard Poodle/Golden Retriever mix and I'm not real impressed with her. She doesn't seem real bright, which is a shame because I've heard Poodles are very intelligent and have had experience with a few that fit that description. We'll see if maybe as she ages she gets better.
![]() Someday when I can afford to have it groomed all the time I vow to have a toy Poodle (is that the correct term for the littlest ones?). I met one at Petsmart once and fell in love. It just crouched in my lap and soaked up the attention! A neighbor a few years back had one that I also loved (it would've been sweeter was it trained and socialized properly, but it was a sweetie despite that). So someday! :-) |

I honestly can't envision my home without at least 1 standard poodle in it. Farley & Chloe have been by far the best dogs I have ever had even though I loved each and every furpal before them. I am totally hooked on the breed.

I am more of, whatever comes my way type of person. I would never base a dogs personality solely on its breed...because each dog is different, so not all say Poodles are going to be alike.
