| Non-Sporting Group Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group do not fit the criteria of the other breed groups, or may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs all make wonderful family companions. |

She's Home!
My wife and I picked up our Boston Terrier pup today! She's huge for 7 weeks kinda chubby.I do have one concern though she sometimes walks sideways and sometimes her rear end will shake and she sits alot.Other than that she is fine playing like a demon, even walks on a leash just fine.I have a previous bad experience with a Boston pup and think thats what my fear comes from.I seen both parents solid muscle and agile great looking dogs.Is this normal for her to do or am I worrying to much?We are also taking her to the vets to just get her cleared for any illnesses mon. the standard check-up. Thanx,

Congrats on your new little one!
It doesn't sound like anything serious to me, possibly just hasn't been out much as a young pup and needs time to build up those rear muscles.Let you vet know when you go in and see what happens. Best of luck and let us know how it goes. ![]() |

I agree with Crossfire. Sometimes pups are all left feet, as they just haven't had much of a chance to get coordinated. Think of it as a child just learning to walk, it takes a little time to get everything moving in the right direction.
However, if you don't see improvement over time(a few weeks at least), consult your Vet. |

I used to have a coon hound that did that at 8 weeks old. Her legs were just too long and her feet too big. As she got a little older and began to run her back legs would catch up with her front legs and she would end up turning around. She looked so confused as to why she couldn't get to the ball she was chasing. She was so adoreable. I loved the fact that her ears were so long they dragged on the ground and she would step on them and trip too.

Congrats on ur pup..... My one dog Dozer - The one with the rectal prolapse, kinda walks sideways with his head tilted to the side. I believe he has Cerebella hypoplasia: Underdevelopment of the back part of the brain, characterized by lack of balance. I brought it up with the vet but in all other ways he is fine and doing well..... He does prance around, yup he literally prances pretty funny. He's a character that one.
I agree tho if your pup is still doing that after sometime do have her looked at and contact your breeder straight away.... Puppies can be a lil off on their feet especially when they are not sure, they will walk a lil funny. Iam sure in no time she will be doing the puppy turbo and running into everything... Enjoy her and can't wait for pics ![]() |

Congrats on your new "daughter". I love Bostons. They are such wonderful creatures and so full of zest. I had a Boston who had 5 pups. I did notice a couple of the females walked just like that and did prefer to just sit, but that was when someone they did not know came over. It could just be she's nervous since she's in a totally different and strange place for her. She has a million things to learn, so the first is to be trustful that she is safe. Hope we get to see pictures of her.

Oh, she's cute!! Bitty used to do the same things you described your pup doing when you first got her.... But Bitty has always been a bit goofy anyway
. She grew out of it too, but hasn't gotten any less strange. I'm glad things are going well with her! |
