| Non-Sporting Group Dogs in the Non-Sporting Group do not fit the criteria of the other breed groups, or may no longer perform the tasks they were originally bred for. These dogs all make wonderful family companions. |

Thank you very much. They are spoiled rotten! I put more pics of them up in the photo area. Hehe, I like your avatar. *l* I tried to dress weston up once (he is the big one). He put up with it but looked misreable (he got this look like "i am going to do something bad as soon as you are sleeping"). That night while I was sleeping he destructed the hat I had put on him. (This dog never chews on anything ever!). I thought it was pretty funny, I guess he didnt like it.

I had a rescue dal with psycological damage in 1999 and I loved her dearly. My mom and stepdad rehomed her and since then I have studied the standard and fallen in love with the JLS and Signature Dalmatians. I plan to show and (if I can afford it) breed dals in the future under the name Longfellow. The pictures aren't working for me!

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about JLS, I dont know too much about signature, just what they have on their site. JLS produces very beautiful dogs and I have heard they are very very nice people. I saw them at the show here in L.R. I really wish that I would have talked to her but she seemed SO busy. She brought Newt too.
I just LOVe livers & I want my next dog to be a liver (show quality). I spend lots of time daydreaming about the perfect pup. *l* (I am a big dork)There is a show dals list that you can be put on and recieve email about results from shows & breeder's opinions. (Right now they have a whole lot about Katrina & the animals in NO & MS) It is very enjoyable for me and if you want you can email me or send me a message and I will give you the address to subscribe, I do caution though every day I have about 50 messages. They also post litter announcements. I have two dals & their pics are under member pictures. I would love to see pics of your rescue if you have any. It is just really weird to me that I am the ONLY one on this message board who has a dal & the same for the other message boards I am on. I do have a lot of addys for dalmatian boards if you want those too. There is only one dal breeder in my state and she isnt very nice. She stopped answering my questions when I told her that I didnt want a pup out of the litter she had (I am trying to save up (yeah right, one of the pups or cats are always sick & my car keeps breaking down, so a car is first on my list) so I can show & finish my dog.). I also wouldnt have bought a pup from her because she doesnt finish her dogs before breeding them and to me that is a huge no-no. I really would enjoy going to her kennel and meeting her dogs and having her as a mentor but it isnt going to happen. That is one thing that aggrivates me is a LOT of breeders only answer questions when it pertains to their dogs & you buying a pup from them. Then when you tell them it might be a little down the road they stop answering questions. If they want the breed to improve then they need to be educaters (sp?). Sorry for the rant. Checkered Flags is having puppies soon (or so someone told me, it still isnt on her page). They are AWSOME. She only has two dogs (father & daughter, no they arent breeding them to each other) but both of the dogs have 10+ titles to their names. If I were picking out a pup soon I would for sure email her and ask her about Janet's pups. Checkered Flags has been looking for a male for Janet for YEARS. I like dogs to be well rounded, when I do finally buy a pup I want the parents to have not only a CH title but also an agility title or an obedience title and would LOVE for them to have a road trials title (even though not many people do road trials). I am sure like other breeds, most breeders just put the CH title to a dog's name & breed it. I dont think most breeders are selective enough in their choosing. Any dog with a CH title almost always gets bred. I have also noticed TONS of dogs have been bred to Newt. I would personally like for the gene pool to get a bit larger, but Newt has sired TONS of champions. Sorry I got a little excited that someone actually is interested in showing dals. If my Weston wasnt such an extreme dal (he is too independant doesnt listen and is epileptic ) then I would for sure get him into some agility or obedience. My other pup Marley is completly deaf and everyone has told me they have never seen a deaf dog compete. I think it is wonderful that you are researching the breed first, I made the mistake of not researching and ended up with a broken heart. I got marley's litter mate Sancho too and he passed at only 6 months old, he was my pal & as some people would say my "heart dog". I got weston from a lady who had no idea what she was doing and shortly after he turned 2 he started having seizures, I asked the "breeder" about it and she said "oh yeah his grandma had seizures too" (she got dals to breed after the 101 dal craze (i am guessing that is why she got them) and kept having puppies & didnt get them fixed so Weston's parents were either bro & sis or mother & son). And dont get me started on Marley's problems. At the time I had no idea there were good breeders & bad breeders (a little naieve). Just send me an email if you want the showlist address or the dal forums (sadly there arent a whole lot of people on the forums) or if you just want to talk kennels. Again sorry for the long post! |
