urgent cat help

My daughter seems to have aquired a stray cat. Here's her email to me. I don't know what to tell her. I already tried to describe what the difference between the male and female looks like. Maybe some of you are better at this. She wants to avoid having to see a vet if possible. She's a little hysterical I think, by the sound of the email.

Dude, I think my cat is a fat hermaphrodite! I cannot tell what the he** it is...he/she...or if it is fat/pregnant....this is so confusing!

Yesterday, I was able to cradle he/her like a baby. I only had a few
seconds granted to me for an observation period. In that time I noticed a
scar that looked like what you described as a spaying scar. However, my
eyes traveled farther back and I noticed two bumps...I think they could be
"the jewels"...not sure though...then I ran my hand back up to look at
her/his teets...there is no change there. I try to feel IT'S stomach but
IT won't let me. It looks like there are two baseballs in her gut but it
really isn't that apparent....Oh God, I do not know what to think! And...!
Why the hell did I name IT Chloe!!! It will probably kick my a** if IT is
a male, and if it is a hermaphrodite then its name should be something
interchangeable between male/female's like Jesse, Jamie, or Kelly! Oh man,
oh man!

The vet will sex it for free! They may even give a free observation on the "baseballs" in the gut, too.

Well I risked being scratched to death but I was able to look at my two cats. One is female and one is male and they are both fixed. My girl cat has a definite little vaginal slit right below her anus maybe 3 cm apart. My boy cat has two little lumps of fur near his anus where his *jewels* used to be and he is so furry I couldn't see his penis (not that I was trying to look!) LOL How embarrassing! Poor cats! so my guess is that your daughter has a boy cat? I don't know about the baseball looking things in it's stomach. My sister has a cat that is sort of fat and it has two big flabs of skin that hang down on the sides of it's stomach, maybe that is what your daughter sees?

Oh thanks guys. I passed your words of wisdom along. Yes, she is quite a character and gets rather alarmed easily. LOL.

LOL...yup, that's my daughter. She really shouldn't be taking this cat on. But she'll love it, that's for sure. She takes after me and is a sucker for all kinds of animals. I'm sure she'll take it to the vet if she really needs to.

I love your picture of your dog.
