Bulldog world taken over by small furry creatures!

What a weekend it's been! We're up to our eyeballs in rescues with our last arriving just yesterday and what happens, the feline world decides it's not getting their fair share of attention and starts dropping small furry meow makers into bulldog world!

LOL

Heres what happened......

I'm at work minding my own business when I get a call from one of our officers saying that he had a bucket with my name on it and was bringing it to me. The officer arrives at my office with a rather tall green bucket and what do I see inside but three small kittens! Turns out that during an investigation the kittens were found in the hands of someone who was going to throw them in the river.

Our animal shelter is bursting at the seams with animals right now and the officer knew if they were taken there they would be put down and so, the kittens found their way to the sourmug mom via squad car. LOL Yep, I took one look at those little faces, cursed the officer and took the bucket on home. Ok, I have to admit I wasn't happy about it but I just couldn't stand the thought of them being out down. I love cats and cute little furry faces are one of my many downfalls.

So, the babies come home with me and appear to be about six weeks old. Two darling greys and a cute little orange and black tiger. That was Saturday night....now comes Sunday.................

Sunday while working I have another officer come in and ask me if anyone told me that there was a container in one of our sallyports containing kittens. I thought he was talking about the bucket and told him that I took them home, he says ohhhh no theres a cat carrier that's been in the sallyport for TWO days with a litter of kittens in it. I go out to take a look and sure enough there they are, five pairs of little eyes staring at me and I was instantly ticked! These poor babies had been left by someone in that hot garage for two days!

Needless to say they were very weak and very dehydrated but, I took them, rehydrated them and fed them and all seem to be perking back around nicely. This group appears to be about 4 weeks old and still require a bottle. Two orange long hairs and three black short hairs. All are now here at home with me and so far doing well but let me tell you, the bullies are NOT pleased! LOL

We have too many bullies right now for me to consider taking care of these little ones for any extended period of time but I refuse to let them go to the shelter to be euth'ed. If anyone knows of a reputable feline rescue with fosters in my area please let me know! ( I know, their hard to find and I've been making tons of calls myself but wanted to get the word out )

I'll try to get pics of the babies posted later today. Wish us luck!

. How I wish I were close to help you out with those little bundles of fur. Sure hope someone can help on the site and yes!!!!I would be tickled pink to see some pics.

Wow Sonja, you are one busy lady!
I wish I knew of any cat rescues near you, but you'd probably know better than I would on that one.
You are so awesome for taking them in, you saved their lives.

If there were any way you could get them to me, I would take them. I've taken in 3 little kittens this month already, but, they would be outside cats, if you would be OK with that.

Ohhh Novel how I wish I had a way to get them over to you. I'm not a huge fan of outdoors for cats but right now any chance at all would be better than no chance at all for them. Thank you so much for the offer.

I've got a few calls in to three different places, two here and one just over the line in Ohio but so far have not heard back from anyone.

The younger babies sleeping on a heating pad in one of our old worn out whelping boxes. ( the box as well as their blankies are stained * look terrible!* but trust me their clean )

The tad bit older babies in their makeshift cardboard house. ( They have full run of my bedroom but prefer spending time in here and dragging their food in with them. )

Yes, the smaller babies are being bottle fed. Their right on the verge of eating on their own but still need a bottle.

God has a special place reserved for you! I'm another who wishes I was closer so that I could lend a hand and take those sweet littles one from your already busy hands. Hopefully one of the calls you made will be able to come to your aid and care for these purrrrfect kitties until they have their own forever homes.

Aww thanks guys.

I really haven't done anything special though, just doing what almost anyone would do who loves animals and although the bottle feedings are really cutting into the little bit of sleep I get I do it for my bully babies when we have them why not the kitties?

No one called me back today.

I haven't given up but so far it looks like I'm in this for the long haul whether I want to be or not. lol My own fault for taking them in so I can't whine. As long as they find homes in the end I'll be a happy camper when it's all said and done.

Just an update ~

Still no offers from anyone to help take on the babies so their all still here with me. All are doing well and the younger group is now very close to being able to eat solid food ( a few more days of the bottle should do it ) their all growing like little weeds.

I'm hoping that finding homes for them will be a bit easier than trying to find someone to help raise them.
