The newest member of the house
Hi all,
As many of you already knew, I'd been thinking about and searching a bit for a new kitten and was undecided on exactly what to get. My Maine Coon is a senior girl and although she likes little babies I wasn't sure if it would be too much for her but I really wanted another cat in the house, I've never been without at least two cats and since her brother passed away about two years ago both her and I have been sort of lost. I tossed around the idea of getting into showing cats as well as my dogs and actually had been talking at length with a breeder that I liked but, yesterday my hubby was looking through our local trader and pointed out an ad that listed a litter of kittens that were 5 weeks old. ![]() Needless to say I couldn't just sit back and not call; they were too young to be away from their mother and I had hoped to talk some sense into the people before they started giving the little ones away. To make a long story short, they agreed to meet with me after telling me that they hadn't gotten any calls and were going to just take the kittens to the shelter. Turns out the kittens are 6 weeks old ( they counted wrong ) and all were doing well on solid food, mommy wasn't around, they hadn't seen here in a week and by the end of the day I had placed all 7 kittens in foster homes with the exception of one, a darling little long haired grey girl with green eyes who is now living her with us. ![]() I'll put a few pics up as soon as I can but until then anyone have any ideas for names? I'm waiting to get a better idea on her personality but thought I'd see what all everyone could come up with. ![]() |

Congrats to you with the new kitten!!!! JeanAnne (my yoiunger sis) has been wanting a kitten for a long time (preferably a Calico kitten
) but we can't get one due to our big old grumpy male Tabby that is in his seinor years. (Ok, Rush isn't really that bad, but he isn't a big fan of other cats. Exspecialy the other males.) I can't really think of any names (I need to know/see the cat before I can really think of any) but Callie sounds kinda neat.....hmmmmm....... Anyways, good luck with your new addition!!!! |

Here is a website that helps pick cat names. I like the name Nimbus which means rain or a type of halo or radience.

Oh, she's adorable. I think Callie is a good name. We had a tabby that had Callico coloring and we named her Callie. We rescued her off a country road. It was night and driving down this road there was something in our lane. I went around and saw it was 3 tiny kittens. I stopped the car and got out. Another car was coming right for them and I couldn't make them stop. They ran right over them, but straddling them so they were unhurt. Then the car stopped and it was someone I knew. We collected the kittens and then heard in the woods more meowing...found another kitten and finally the mother! We got them all, after Emily, my daughter went stumbling around in the dark, getting all scrathed up by blackberry bushes. We found homes for the kittens. My DH wouldn't let us keep another cat. I put an add in the paper and people kept calling saying things like they wanted a cat for a mouser in their warehouse or to keep out in the barn. I hung up on them and we got too attached and ended up keeping the cat. My DH was kind of a sucker for cats anyway so it wasn't too hard. LOL. She was a wonderful, friendly cat. She must have been moving her kittens from one place to another. They would have been killed, if not by cars, then coyotes. Most my cats I aquired by "saving" them....no shelters, just found them.
Priscilla, I found 30 feet up a tree and I climbed up to get her. I was abaout 35 yrs. old then and this was in someones yard. LOL. She was starving practically, wormy and lost looking. (I probably stole someone's cat, but I didn't like the way she looked....sickly) She's the one I just pts at 18 yrs. old recently. Priscilla...that's a nice feminine name, right? Anyway.....have fun with your new kitty. She is very cute. |
