Fleas and kittens....

Hello- Quick question. A friend of mine adopted a kitten recently. Should be about 4 to 5 months old now. He just spotted about 4 fleas and is freaking out a bit. Are there any good suggestions for taking care of this? I said he needed to go back to the vet and ask about flea medicine, but I wasn't sure if kitty is too young to get on anything. Does anyone know? The kitten never goes outside so where would they have come from?

Thanks for any advice.

flea prevention from the vet.

Fleas were probably on the kitten when your friend got him, or at least flea eggs. At this point, there is the possibility that there are now flea eggs in the carpet of your friends home (depending on how long the kitten's been there and how badly the kitten had fleas). Talk to a vet maybe about the flea condition and then consider getting the house bombed for fleas - this will kill the fleas, then after the kitten has been on flea prevention long enough to be rid of fleas and thier eggs - you can take him off the medications. The cat can be off prevention so long as he doesn't go out side. My cats aren't on prevention, and aren't allowed outside. My dog is on prevention, and my apartment, as far as I can tell, is flea free.

Good luck.
