Gorgeous birds!
I'm sorry about Ringo. I'm glad you like to take photos of your birds though, we have a lot of bird people here who love looking at pictures of people's birds. Cass. |

My mums friend has an african grey called Willie - he is hilarious, he can say loads of stuff. he can even bark like a dog and meaw like a cat lol when you ask him to give you a paw, he will give you his foot lol he can sing songs etc. your african grey is in great condition, when left Willie pulls his feathers out, even if it is only for a short time. ![]() |

Dino will talk your ear off too. Several different hello and goodbye voices, which she will say when you come home or when you get ready to leave the house. Goodnight when you get ready to go to bed, she knows just what to say and when. It seems like she is triggered by certain events, like the phone ringing triggers an entire half of a phone conversation usually in my wife's voice, including the beep of the phone being answered and hung up. She does dog stuff like imitate my daughter trying desperately to get her Pug to speak (which he won't do), so Dino says "speak, speak, speak" and then answers her own command with a bark that sounds just like the Pug. She also does the cat meowing, several different high and low pitch dog barks, crys exactly like the Pug (she fooled some insurance guy who was here one night, he said oh, you can let your dog out, and the dog was sitting right there with us, lol!). Door squeaks, smoke detector, hand claps, kiss noises, clicking noises you use to call your dog, belch and fart noises. It's amazing and a never ending source of entertainment. Sometimes her timing with what she says is so good you really think she understands what is going on. One night my wife and I were having a loud, um, discussion (read: argument). She gets done yelling at me and Dino says "What?". Of course, we both crack up and realize how silly we were to be arguing. ![]() |

there great birds, i would love to have one some day. What voice does she mimic completly in your family. As my mums friends friend lives by himself, Willie mimics his voice, you don't know who is who lol he loves to sing songs e.g humty dumty, you canny shove your granny aff the bus (scottish song) Ian even made up a sond for Willie which me loves to sing. when ever my mums friend puts his jakes on - he says bye daddy he knows all of the other birds names and mimics there tweets. i will be here all day talkin about him and all the things he can do well here is a picture of him on how do you know your is female? did you take on of it feathers to the vet? i read on a site which said that you can tell by the shape of there eye, mostly the black bit around the eye, donno if that is true though. ![]() see his tail ![]() |

He doesn't look so bad. I've heard of them plucking themselves bare, I thought you meant he had bare spots on him.
Dino imitates my wife mostly but also has male voices that sound like me, especially the laughing sounds, she can do both of us dead on. My wife hates it because it's so funny when the bird imitates her laughing, it sounds exactly like her. Dino will have conversations with herself in both male and female voices, like us talking to each other. |

Cute birds!
I have a tiel that someone let loose in the store I worked at. She has a bad eye but is sweet as heck (until we spoiled her). She's totally hand tame and all, but thinks she is a little princess now, lol. I also have my FIRST baby, Dusty. She's a bronze wing pionus. Most people have never haerd of them, she's kind of a rare parrot. I bought her when I was 17. |

GSDLover, we read about the eye thing- a round eye is male, a more oval eye is female. She's definitely got an oval eye. The people who we got her from thought it was a boy hence the Dino name. I don't know if it matters but she only likes me, and my wife and daughter can barely get near her. My wife a bit but when my daughter goes near her she gives a raspberry sound.

i tried to find the link in my favourites, but couldn't find it
if i go by the eye thing Willie is a female - but we can't really change it because he knows it so well. Willie is a real daddies boy/ girl?? he doesn't like me very much he always tries to it me, but when i tell him to be nice he does - weird i hate it when he gives me his foot, when im not expecting it, he always grabs me lol the first time he did it he scared me to death he is a little bugger i think he is only doing it for attention when he tries bitting me because sometimes, if i egnore him and talk to the other birds, he come up to the cage and says HELLO to me and he sometimes says my name.he talks in a scottish/ canidian acsend - that how my mums friend talks. and probably because my mums friend lives himself, so Willie isn't use to alot of people. |

What wonderful pictures! I used to have budgies and a cockiteal. My budgies died of natural causes...Buddy, he lived the longest out of the two budgies, grew a strange growth on his beak, and I had my parents get a $60 biopsy for a $15 bird!
We had the growth removed, but he died a few months later. Nikki, my cockiteal, was great. I had her about 5 years. Then I got a cat, was in college, and didn't have time to get her out safely. After months of deliberation, I posted on a web site that I needed some help with her. I drove an hour out to meet a woman with a bunch of birds. Her house was beautiful and she was a nice woman, her and Nikki got along well, so I turned her over, it was heart wrenching. Then, about a week later I got an email from the woman saying that her friend, who didn't have other birds, had fallen in love with Nikki, and Nikki fell in love with her, so she hoped I didn't mind, but Nikki went to live with her friend. For the first few years I got update emails from the new owner, and she really adores Nikki. Lets her out of the cage all the time sitting on her shoulder. It makes me happy that someone else could give her the life she deserves. I hate giving up my responsibilities to life llike that, but I know it was in Nikki's best interest, so I can sleep at night. I'd love to get another bird, but I don't think my house hold would welcome one well, so I likely won't. |
