Buddy

I got a call tonight from one of my rescue foster mothers who had adopted one of our rescue boys four years ago; Buddy came to us at three years of age with very severe separation anxiety and a very severe fear of thunderstorms both to the point where he would actually hurt himself. Buddy had been known to jump through plate glass windows, jumped out of a second story window and many other things during his episodes. All stemming from a VERY abusive home.

Since coming into rescue and living with his new mom, Buddy improved to the point where with a few hugs from his mom and only half a valium before a storm rolled in he could manage to get through without harming himself. He had done so well over the past four years and was a loving and very loved member of the family. Over the past two weeks Buddy began to lose bladder control and even with the slightest bit of wind through the trees began to once again harm himself. His loss of bladder control was found to be the onset of renal failure.

Yesterday Buddy lost it, the wind picked up and he began beating his head against the wall and no matter what was tried, even medication he went on until he was too weak to even stand and finally fell down. He lost four teeth that night and was taken tonight to the vet where he was put down. Our Buddy is finally at peace with the world and himself. Rest in peace big man.

That is so terribly sad. You must be hurting so bad. I'm truly sorry for the loss of your wonderful boy.

I am soo sorry for their loss! My heart goes out to themand you. Buddy is now romping and playing with all his friends with no fear of loud noises!

My deepest condolences. Hope this doesn;t sound insensitive, but at least Buddy did get to experience some stabalising love and kindness!

Thanks all and Fein, I don't think it sounded insensitive at all, we're all very grateful that Buddy was lucky enough to have a second chance at a loving forever home and he will be dearly missed by his family as well as everyone who knew him.

I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy. What one person can do in harm takes so many years to repair, if ever. Such a shame.
