RIP Jack
My dog Jack just passed last fall do to old age and all the problems that come with it. He died at the age of 13.
Jack was actually my husbands dog when we met. Jack was a 9 week old ball of Silver and grey Bearded Collie Puppy. I would always describe him as a high energy Border Collie lol he was that hyper. My husband often told me stories about his childhood and how they ALWAYS had a collie on the farm almost always a Rough Collie. But Bearded Collies were just as great. He told me how he wanted to train Jack in agility and Trials so he would never be bored and have lots of stimuli (this was before we owned the farm). Jack was an amazing dog he loved everyone and everything. Two years passed and we moved on to our farm and not long after got Oliver my first Rough Collie. Jack took on the role as Olivers dad he nipped Oliver when he was out of line and cuddled him when he was in trouble. Jack exceled in both agility and sheepdog trials and it he was an odd sight at both. Oliver and I studied Max (my husband) and Jack work at both these competitions studying every move because Oliver was my dog and if I wanted to do these things with him I had to learn it all first. That summer we bought our first few sheep and started having the dogs herd on a regular basis. I think with out Jack teaching him everything Oliver would'nt be the champion he is today. Through all the new dogs except Jacks Jack has been there to guide them through puppyhood. Jack was a great dog and I find myself missing him everyday especially when I look at Jacks and often think how Jack would handle the situation. Oliver though has taken on the highest ranking dog postion other then my husband and I and includes keeping track of Jacks. Oliver is just as good a teacher as Jack I think. I cry at least once a week when thinking Jack. He was my intorduction to Collies in general and i could'nt have a better one. RIP Cracker Jack |

What a loss. Oliver had a great teacher!
I too lost a Jack, a Border Collie, a long time ago. He's the dog that got me interested in becoming a trainer. I am grateful to him for what he taught me and in a way, he is still teaching others. Like you, I think of him everyday and wonder what he would do in a situation. I thought I was the only one who did that! Thanks for sharing that. Kit |

It sounds like you gave Jack a wonderful life and he, in return gave so much to you. He does sound like an amazing dog who you'll never forget and keep in your heart and memory forever. We all know how hard it is to lose a dog and how you never really get completely over it. I'm sorry you went through losing such a friend.
