Waldo and Jake
As I've mentioned in my re-introduction post, I have lost two wonderful Springer Spaniels in the past year. Too much heartbreak! But I know the amount of sadness I feel over these losses is directly proportional to the amount of happiness they brought into my life.
Jake is in a number of my past posts, as he was still with me when I used to post here. He was abused and neglected before I adopted him, with several issues (medical and otherwise). But he was the kindest spirit I've ever encountered; truly my soul mate of a dog. He had a sudden collapse, presumably from a ruptured internal tumor, on my birthday (September). He will always be my baby boy. ![]() ![]() ![]() Waldo was adopted last Thanksgiving. I counted him as a blessing every day beyond that. He came to me with cancer (which I found out 4 days after adopting him, when I took him to my vet). We did everything we could for him, and I'd do it all again. If love alone could have saved him, he would have never died. His last ultrasound showed the cancer had taken over his spleen (hemangiosarcoma), and spread to his liver and kidneys. He was also internally bleeding from a rupture. A week later, we made the horrible decision of letting him go with dignity. I never wanted to let him go at all. Now I'm all teary. He is buried in a special place next to Jake. Waldo was as silly as they come, and strong and brave. He bonded deeply with me, and I with him. He was my little scrappy doodle. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for letting me share my recent past loves. It was important for me to introduce them even if they are no longer with us. |

Melanie, I love seeing pictures of Waldo and Jake, and hearing their story told with such love makes me get teary eyed, too! You are so awesome for giving these old souls a second chance and surrounding them with love and care during their last moments on earth.

Thank you so much for sharing them with us. Its obvious they were and still are dearly loved. Thank you so very much for making each and every day of their adopted life wonderful!

Thanks! I know people on here can appreciate how much these guys mean to me. They were both truly special beings.
