Australian Shepherd Mix Puppy Training

I just got a Australian Shepherd mix, the mother was pure bred and it got bred by the dog next door (accident lol). It is about 4 1/2 - 5 weeks old. I was curious when I can start training this dog various things and what book or website would you guys recommend for this? I am wanting the basic stuff like fetch, sit, speak ect. It is a really smart dog it is basically potty trained already except it's bladder doesn't hold long so it sometimes pees inside but poos outside. thank!@!!!!

"Positive Perspectives: Love Your Dog, Train Your Dog" by Pat Miller. Similar to her book "Power of Positive Dog Training", but much more puppy stuff. As for websites, this is a good one!

5 weeks is pretty young to learn much of anything except what to chew and what not to chew, where to potty and where not to potty, how different people look and smell, how different places look and smell., and not to bite people. Fetch can wait a few weeks.

Hi Chad, welcome to GP. Congratulations on your new little family member. I would say you can start the training process at home at anytime now but keep it simple and easy. After all shots are given I strongly recommend enrolling in puppy kindergarten. By the way, you kept calling the pup an "it", so am curious as to the sex and the name. Pictures would be more than welcome too.
