Wonderful.
My new adopted puppy is 5 1/2 months old. He is awkward, mouthy, not trained on a leash, learning commands for the first time, etc.
But he is lovely. In his puppiness, I see his potential to be the absolute best dog.
And I surely plan to help him reach his full potential.
Thanks for the post.

Wink Tazer, 4 months old

Hi, Thank you for that wonderful letter, I live with my elderly bed ridden father, we got our older dog from the spca and was trained when we got Mai-ling, she became dad's dog.......when i got tazer he wasn't used to a puppy in the house, he doesn't realize that the dog doesn't come fully trained.......after my father read this letter it opened his eyes to the fact that tazer is only a baby and is starting to teeth. He does all the things you mentioned and I think that Dad will now cherish this time in the puppy's life....

thank you again, it was a real eyeopener for Dad

Your very welcome. I'm glad that it helped your dad understand.

If puppies could talk, they wouldn't have said it any better. Thank you for sharing that wonderful eye opener.

Beautiful and ohh!! so true. Puppies are babies and like humans they need our patience and understanding and most of all love.
They need to get used to us too, after all. I always compare baby animals to human animals ( in a sense ) would you expect your child to be potty trained at six months?
If they know they are loved, even if they sometimes make a mistake, they will train a whole lot easier.

I came on here because I was at my wits end. After reading that letter I feel a bit better.
I was starting to think that my puppy must be the hardest one in the world to train. I was starting to think I she will never learn anything

I will keep on doing the correct things, and read the letter every time I have had enough.

That should be given out to everyone when they purchase a puppy. Or before would be better.

I wish people would hand this out with every puppy when it goes to it's new home! Puppies can be wonderful and we all know their adorable but let's face it, at times they can be difficult and our patience comes close to it's limit.

When that happens, it's time to take a deep breath, sit back and read this to once again put ourselves into their little paws and remember just what their all about.
