Protein based foods are best for huskies.

I feed my three Exclusive Chicken and Rice, by PMI Nutrition. It's distributed to feed stores. It's not top knotch food like Canidae and Eagle Pack, but it's certainly above the grocery store foods and Science Diet.

Here is their website www.pminutrition.net
Put in your zip code and it will bring up the nearest store that sells it.

That's if you decide on this food I have found mine to do excellent on it, and have not had any problems with weight. My oldest Sibe had problems with the cheaper foods, and after being on this, I haven't had a problem since.

Hi Icey Blue Sibes
Thanks for your input.
When you say protien based foods are best for Huskies, do you mean a protien like chicken is the first ingredient listed?
I will check out that food as well, and it's great to know your huskies are doing well on it.
I read somewhere that it is good to give huskies a fish oil supplement because origanally fish was one of there main sources of protien. Not sure if this is true or not.
Do you feed any supplements?
Do you feed raw bones?
Or does anyone reading this use supplements, or feed raw bones?
Because there is so much talk about the nutrition being baked out of dry food.
Also your Sibes are beautiful!
Lisa

Yes, I mean the main ingredient being something like chicken.

It's good to give just about any dog fish oil. It helps keep their skin and coat healthy. I'm not sure if it's for that same reason, but it could be. I've never heard it though.

I don't feed any supplements. The only thing I give my oldest is a vitamin pill to help with her digestive tract. She had been diagnosed with Colitis, and then Gastrointestinal Mucosa. She loves taking her pills.

I have not given any of them raw bones... yet. I'd like to give them one as a treat in the future. I just haven't had the money to go out and get one for everybody just yet

I occassionally cook a meal for them. Probably about once a month. Just so they get something really yummy. I also put chicken breast, ground up and mixed with warm water on their kibble.

Hi Icey Blue Sibes
That's interesting that one of your Huskies has colitis, because my previous husky had alot of problems with that after she turned seven, and I've talked to other husky people who have dealt with it as well.
And thanks for your info about fish oil and supplements.

Isn't that strange. I've also heard of other huskies getting colitis. But, since we took them off of crappy food, I haven't had a problem.

The vitamins I got through my vet. I'm not sure if you could buy them over the counter anywhere.
