Unhappy Puppies and Electrical Cords

I would just like make people aware of the dangers of puppies and electrical cords. Last night our Lhasa Apso Wolffe bit through the lamp cord. He wasn't breathing at first, so Angie gave him mouth to mouth and he came back to.He lived for a few hours panting heavily. He was alert and responisve, then he began to seize. In a short time he had several seizures, then his heart stopped.
We've raised a lot of puppies, though mostly bigger breeds and I would have never imagined something this terrible could happen.
Now that I am aware of the danger, I know that #1 I need to take precautions to ensure it can't and won't happen ever again #2 We need to be more aware of exactly what it is that's entertaining the puppies.
In the blink of an eye and flicker of the light not only did we lose a small fortune, but Angie lost who and what meant most to her.

that is horrible!! My puppy got a hold of an extension cord a few weeks ago, it wasn't plugged in, but I still made sure she knew it was a big no no. I'm sooo sorry about your little one.

This is why we both puppy proof and crate train.

They are crate trained, but they can't be in there 100% of the time. The cord was tucked behind the curio, but evidently they were going back there and pulling on it.

Oh my gosh, what a devastating accident! I think it'd be a good idea for everyone to give their house a thorough check-over at least twice to make sure there's nothing potentially dangerous laying around. Dogs sometimes get into things that we didn't even know were there.

I'm so sorry you've lost your best friend. It's awfully hard to cover all the bases when trying to keep your puppy safe. My most sincere condolences to you both.
