This is what I had thought from the email of the "breeder" (the owner of the stud), but later she clarified that there were 6 boys and 4 girls! I could pick Niki from the pictures she has on the web.
I had misunderstood a loot of things, first because I did not know many English words, like stud (so I thought the breeder was the same as the owner of the stud) and also because I did not know how things work when you have a breeder, a stud owner, etc. I have learned by all of your answers to me and then asking my what I still call breeder (the owner of the male dog) who I communicate with her. Plus, she lives mostly in NY, but is a native of Russia, so she phrases sometimes things in the wrong way (not intentionally), and I only realized it after I asked and she clarified, but kind of surprised because she had assumed she explained. She is really nice and always very helpful and ready to answer my questions, but I have to make sure that I understand everything and the terminology and then make sure I ask for clarification if it seems that something does not make sense; most times is communication issue because of the language barrier. The owner of the female dog lives in Russia, and the puppies you see they were born and are still there with their mommy. The owner of the stud acts as a middleman for the puppies that she is getting as a fee for the stud (she gets pick of the litter and she gets to chose where they go). However, she has send me the breeder's contact info and I can contact her anytime. Both dogs (male and female) are internationally recognized multi-champions in dog shows and many of their puppies have had taken the same path winning titles -- this is why she wanted me to show the girl. She can assume, but not quarrantee, that these puppies also could have great potential. She wanted me to at least try. I just was really scared at first because I have never adopted a puppy that way, and I did not know a lot of things. So far, she has answered all my questions, about the care of the puppy, and from the beginning she had told me that we would continue having contact and she would like to know how my puppy is doing. I got excellent references from the people who have adopted puppies through her, and all but one said that she is still in contact with them and has helped them with any questions they had over the years in raising their BRT. I am sorry for the loong email, but I kind of feel the need to clear her up as I had also misunderstood. After the help I received here, I started questioning the right questions, I randomly chose people who have adopted puppies through her and other breeders and questioned them. All are happy with her, but one, but absolutely everyone (even the person that does not get along with her very well) are very happy with the puppies. From the three random breeders I contacted, only one had negative things to say, and immediately offered me one of her puppies from someone else, so it did not seem right. |
