help me! i have 4 large dogs--all very sensitive. our neighbor's chihuahua wont stop having puppies. she had 2 minpin chiwah mixes...and our neighbor wants us to take them. we live in a TRAILER jammed with 4 dogs, 2 cats, a ferret, 2 gerbils, and fish. we are pet addicts--these are SO CUTE! they are sweet too. theres a boy and a girl. i REALLY want one just for me...a pocket puppy. but my jack russell dachshund mix is sensitive and if i got a puppy, he would never treat me the same.
so i want one--but i dont. plus... we can barely afford the house right now. also i would never have time to spend with her--i will be at school from 6am to 3:30pm. i need guidance in this! my heart is torn!!! my little minpinchiwah needs me but i dont know what 2 do!!!! |

Hi welcome to Global Paw!
![]() I'd personally suggest that you don't take on another dog right now. You yourself said you won't have the time, space or finances to be able to take care of this dog properly - and with such a badly bred dog, there are sure to be many vet bills that come along with this Min Pin x Chihuahua (which is probably very inbred by the sounds of it). |

As a full time student, the last thing you need is a puppy. Pocket puppies grow - ask Paris and Nicole. I am sure that is why the only carry their pet shop puppies for such a short time before getting a new one. Please - encourage your neighbor to spay/neuter her pets. |

we have been trying to. we have even called animal control. still nothing has changed. you must think i do not know anything about pets. we even came to her door and spoke to her about her unspayed/neutered dogs. she just refuses to let it go. it is very hard on her animal; that same female chihuahua has had 12 litters one behind the other. i understand fully that this is serious but even animal control wont come to see to the situation.

That poor chihuahua! How can people do that?! Do you think it's a matter of them not being able to afford the spaying? If it is , they haven't thought through that the puppies cost more. They could go to the SPCA and have it done cheaper or maybe even free if they know she can't afford it. I wonder in cases like this if there is anything they would do. I would consider that cruelty to animals. JMO
I agree though, you shouldn't get this pup. One you can afford it or have time for it and two, you will be supporting this woman's unethical practices. |

Maybe contact a local rescue organization that might take the puppies? It is a lot easier to home small dogs than larger dogs.
It's obvious you are a very kind and concerned animal lover, and we all know how hard it is to see a dog-or cute puppies!-in need and not just run over, scoop them all up and give them a great home, but it doesn't sound realistic. Remember you can only do so much yourself. In terms of mutts being healthier-remember genetics are genetics, so if both parents have a genetic disposition, even from different breeds, they might pass it along to their puppies. I have a GSD/Boxer mutt, which are both prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, so I am very conscientious of this, even though she's a mutt. Also, a dog can still get ill even if they are not genetically predisposed-it's not a guarantee just because the parents are healthy that the pups will be. |

That was going to be my suggestion, too - contact a local rescue that could take the puppies, and hopefully help the owners of the dogs find a solution to prevent this from happening again.

Call the Min-Pin and the Chihuahua Rescues. They don't have to be listed in your state because they have foster homes in most states that will pick up the pups. I hope those people spay that poor little Chi before it's too late for her. That's such a shame. When you contact the Chihuahua Rescue, let them know that poor moms situation and maybe they can persuede the owner to surrender her so they can get her spayed and placed in a great home. Good luck and let us know what happens.
