Marvinwillis, how old are your two puppies?

It is very hard to raise, train, and manage two dogs at a time--especially two puppies.

As I said earlier, it is very hard to have two dogs, especially two very young dogs. There is also a very good chance they will grow to be very attached to each other and not you (I'm not saying they won't be attached to you).

The pup does miss it's mother. What ever you do, don't try to make it feel better by patting it or talking to it, while it whines. Dogs don't understand sympathy and so it will think it's being praised by you if you pat and cuddle and talk to it every time it whines for it's mum. Best thing to do is ignore it when it whines and when it's quiet, you praise it. Make it feel at home, make sure it has a nice quiet secure place to go to when it doesn't want to be around you.
The same goes for the chihuahua puppy.

It was unwise to rush out and get another puppy just because your brother was jealous.. that's not a good reason to get a dog. BUT since it's in the family now, you have to make sure you do things right. Read the sites gaddy gave you and make sure your brother and parents do as well.

Your parents should be as responsible for these dogs as you and your brother must be.

Cass.

She may be crying because she's lonely (she probably is), but she could be crying because she needs to go potty.

Have you considered crate training your dogs? Crates give them comfort since it is a small space, like a den. Bathrooms are too large to housetrain a puppy easily. I'm definitely not saying it can't be done, but it is much easier when the pup is in a smaller space that they don't want to get dirty.

Also, are both of them up-to-date on vaccinations? Do you have proof that the breeders gave them their beginning shots? Where did you get the rat terrier from? Are you sure it came from a healthy place and couldn't be carrying any illnesses your chihuahua could catch?

One more question.... Did you take both of them to the vet's within a couple of days of getting them so the vet could reassure you that your pups are in good condition? That is a very important thing to do no matter what type of dog and how old it is.
