Many puppy troubles ---

I'm about ready to pull my hair out. lol

Most all of her behavior I know for a fact is a result from the move and lack of attention.

This is just a vent for myself. I'm pretty sure I know ways to handle these things, but I just need to get them off my chest.

Her potty training has taken a HUGE step backward. The new house is tile all throughout besides the bedrooms. Well she has decided that my brother and my dad's room are the best places to go potty. The hardest part is the fact that we don't catch her, but I know it's her because she will be the only one out of the bunch who won't go poo outside and then 20 minutes later there is a pile somewhere. We have no fence so she is completely distracted by the leash, as well as wanting to play. She is good off leash, or atleast was, but she has developed the "deaf puppy" syndrome. lol So, I'm back to crating her at night time (she did so well at the old house, no accidents what-so-ever). That's another pain because she ALWAYS screams and wines. She is the first dog I've had the roughest time with. Bones/toys don't make a difference for her while she's in there. So, I'm trying my best to get some sleep, while not giving into her whining. I take her out to potty, and then back in the crate. 1 hour of screaming and it's taking a toll on me!

Her "deaf puppy syndrome" came into play today. Like I said before, we have no fence yet, but there is fence running along the back behind us. Well, between two fences they overlap, but there is a gap between them. Well she discovered that hole and ignored me calling her. Then when I was trying to grab her, she'd walk up to me and then get spooked when I'd go to grab her collar and run around where I couldn't get her. It wasn't a game to her. I could tell by her body language she realized that she had seperated herself from the house. She looked uneasy but refused to come over to me. So I was able to squeeze in there enough to grab her and put her back on the other side. So until I can get her to listen better and work on her training some more, she is going on a tie out (atleast until we have a fence put up).

She thinks coming to you and then running away is the best game ever. We try to call her inside from the screened patio and she will get just close enough, and when you go to grab her to guide her in she runs. Brat...

AAAAHHHHHHH lol Like I said, I know all of her problems are NOT her fault. They are solely mine, and it's hard to keep track of puppy stuff when we've moved so quickly. It's just thrown everything in reverse as far as her training goes. So I can hopefully start picking up on her training.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Sorry about your puppy troubles! She sounds very similar to Lucy as a puppy. I have just resorted to tie-outs all the time. Good luck with her! (I want pictures if possible) lol

Actually, now that I think about it I will get some photos today. I found my camera chord that hooks up to my computer, so it makes it easier. I couldn't find it before so I had to use my printer that has a memory card slot for the cams in order to upload pics.

They're all finally asleep so I'll get some soon enough today!

Not too unlike kids when you move to a new place. I'm sure she will settle once a fence is up and she has all her familar toys and starts to relax in her new digs. When we got our third Yorkie in December, Zada and Azrael were so traumatized that they started vomiting and had diarrhea. Zada was the worst and hers lasted two weeks. They soon settled down and now all three are best of buds.
I feel for what your dealing with. It's terribly difficult, but rest assured things will get back to normal. Just make sure she has no bad experiences at the new house..........like no yelling at her or being really angry. She will pick up on those emotions as a bad feeling and could relay that into the new place. Maybe keep all the bedroom doors closed for now. If you can't watch her maybe tether her to you while your busy. Give her tiny treats while she's tethered to you once in awhile. Make things fun for her. You can do it!

I am also sorry about your puppy troubles! We went through dog troubles when we moved here. They were housebroken at our other house, and then over here I was told large dogs lived here...So they started marking (The unaltered boys) everything!!! It took some time, but they got housebroken AGAIN in this house.

Zen has "Deaf puppy syndrome". At the dog park when I call him to come he comes immediately. And listens very well to me in the front yard, but when hes at home with the other dogs, he completely ignores me. And every time he does that I leash him, and I make him come and give him a treat right in front of the dogs. Its like he learned to do what I want when hes by himself, but with the other dogs he thinks he can ignore me.

Puppies...you gotta love them. Hopefully everything will get back on schedule soon and you won't have to deal with all of this "puppy" buisiness! Chloe's a year old and still acts like a puppy....gotta be expected, but being around adult/senior dogs for so long has made me go, "Oh, why oh why does she have to be a puppy?"

Vent all you'd like - I've done my share of it before as well.

Well, big update. I'm much more relaxed now and my hair is growing back LOL

Since I vented with you guys, I really buckled down and made sure she was crated any time she could not be supervised. So if someone was napping, or going out of the house, she stays in the crate. She is sleeping through the night. She whimpers the first few minutes she is in there but if I say "Willah, hush" she stops. The crate is at the foot of the bed so it's as if she has to make sure I'm still in the room. Cause if I'm not in there, even if my boyfriend is in there, she starts screaming in the crate. But, when she gets me up at 5 in the morning she goes straight outside. If I can go back to sleep, then she goes back in the crate with me unless my mom is up to watch her. But usually she is so she is making a habit of getting up at the same time. The other day she slept till about 6:30 though.

All the doors in the house stay shut. We take her out literally ANY time she drinks water, plays, or sleeps. I've never really had to be THIS strict with a puppy before. We have even noticed we have to limit her water. We moved the water dish from the back porch to inside the other day, the dogs drank and Willah drank. We didn't notice the amount but we know she must have gorged herself because she was playing with Lugar, and literally 30 seconds later, there were three puddles on the floor, and one right behind her where she was laying down, as if she went and couldn't hold it at all. We noticed she did it again when we had a bowl of water down. She went out on the back patio and pee'd. So, unfortunately the others have to deal with it as well, but it is good because Ike was to the point of asking to go out every 30 minutes and he acted like he hadn't pee'd all day.

She isn't being quite as rowdy either. Now that everyone is getting back to work and we have some normalcy in the house, we have a schedule going.

I cannot stress enough to people about how much of a difference giving your puppy a schedule can make. She gets up early in the AM, I normally go to work, my dad leaves, my mom takes my brother, my mom comes home and feeds them, they all go out, they play, they sleep, they go out, I come home, my dad and brother come home, they go out, they eat, they play, they go out, and then bed time. That's a jist of how their schedule is, but it's made a huge difference in Willah.

So, that's how its been going with her. I just wish she would be a TIRED puppy. LOL She is just like Lugar and just seems to never be tired!

It sounds like you have made great progress so far! I am having similar bathroom problems with my new dog Gabby who was always an outside dog before I got her. She asks to go out every hour and If I don't let her out she pees on the floor. lol BTW you promised pictures. Where are they?

Pups Wooooo that can be a tough one......Poops and The Puddle in the living ROOM!!!! Grrrrrrr..

OK there are real simple rules after 6 PUPs you learn real fast... Good deeds get treats! #1 You drink you PEE right out side... # 2 You Play you PEE right out side. #3 You eat you POOP Right outside. If all goes well a treat is the call of the day!!!!

If you stick to this for two weeks you should be home free.....

The I do not know you WHAT CALL?????????????

A Short lead will do! Put your pup as far as it will allow and call him or her.If your friend don't move a small firm tug on the lead will do! If your friend comes to you a treat is given and a good firm pat on the head will do with praise good DOG ECT and do this about four times on each outting and this will vanish as fast as it came your the BOSS remember that
