If you're inexperienced in raising a puppy, don't wait for trouble to become firmly installed. Prevention truly is the best way to avoid unwanted behavior, keep you from becoming frustrated, miserable and taking out your anger on your puppy. It can help keep dogs from being given up to shelters if you can develop behavior which works for you as well as for your dog.
I hear about so many people having such trouble with their puppies and also I notice that so many new dog owners are appalled at their puppy's behavior, not realizing that the behavior is absolutely and perfectly normal for this species and that growing up doesn't happen over night, just as it doesn't for human babies.
