Arrow Prevention is the best medicine: Get started with your puppy now.

If you're inexperienced in raising a puppy, don't wait for trouble to become firmly installed. Prevention truly is the best way to avoid unwanted behavior, keep you from becoming frustrated, miserable and taking out your anger on your puppy. It can help keep dogs from being given up to shelters if you can develop behavior which works for you as well as for your dog.

I hear about so many people having such trouble with their puppies and also I notice that so many new dog owners are appalled at their puppy's behavior, not realizing that the behavior is absolutely and perfectly normal for this species and that growing up doesn't happen over night, just as it doesn't for human babies.

Here are some articles that I think will help put things into perspective and give you the tools you need to at least get a good start with your new puppy. Don't wait. Start now.

Got a "crazy," rambunctious, high energy puppy? This is one of my favorite articles:

How to Train a "Crazy" Dog! | Karen Pryor Clickertraining

Got a puppy who bites? Who doesn't? This is an exceedingly important thing to understand:

Without this, any training is frustrating and very difficult:

Get this behavior going and established early on and continue to practice forever. It will make your life with your dog so much easier and less frustrating and can save your pup's life:

Training a Steadfast Recall | Karen Pryor Clickertraining

Prevent this at all costs. Be pro-active. Start early:

possessiveness

Good training articles of all kinds of things:

You don't have to work so hard. Let your dog learn to help train himself:
