Question Grass Eating

Should I be worried about my puppy eating grass? She loves the outdoors and it gives us a break once in a while to put her outside in the yard, but she gets into everything. Eats grass, leaves, sometimes even mud and dirt. Its kinda hard to stop her from doing it too. If she sees us walking towards her to take the grass from her mouth she'll run away. Its all a big game to her, .
The grass is not sprayed with any pesticide.
What do you think?

Eating grass is perfectly normal for both dogs and cats. I wouldn't worry unless there was a chance it had been sprayed with a chemical...but as you say, it hasn't in this case. So no problem.

Cass.

Little pups are very much like small children - everything has to go in their mouth at least once. lol Eating grass, dirt and just about anything else under the sun is fairly normal for a pup.....just make sure to watch that they aren't taste tasting something that could harm them.

Chloe goes out every night after her dinner and has a little feed of grass to top off her meal

My sheltie loves nothing more than to eat blades of grass with the fresh morning dew.

Zada, my Yorkie will be 6 months on the 5th of June and is going through the exact same thing, except she doesn't run from me when I either stroll over to her or get her attention on something else. I usually take a few bits of treats out with me and when she starts "grazing" I then just calmly pick her up, walk around to distract her then put her down and quickly run away from her. She loves to chase. If she doesn't run after me, I get some distance between us then say "Zada come" and she runs right to me and gets a treat. I then put her through her training, rewarding with treats, and even when I come back inside she will quickly and gladly follow me because she knows she will be rewarded again. This works so well.

Both my dogs eat grass. I have had Scooter my new pup less than 24hrs and he has allready ate some grass, and he always likes to pick up leaves.
The reason your pupper is gogin in mud is probably because it feels good on her feet. If it is warm where you live that is probably a must
Good luck with your puppy.

hint:
when he is in th mud call him to you. Get really excited and then praise him for comming to you. that may help I am not sure. It will teach him its a good thing to come ! lol

Puppys eat grass to get moisture, older dogs eat grass to make them selves sick to clear the stomach (this does not mean your dog will be sick everytime they eat grass)

If you are worried about the grass being sprayed with chemicals, or anything harmful 2 your baby, i suggest going to Petsmart or Petco and getting PET GRASS. It works great, and its healthy too! The pup can't tell the difference. We have 2 dogs (soon 2 b 3) and 3 cats, and they love it! It's $3?? I know it's not expensive. And it doesn't make them sick either. Hope this helps. I highly suggest attempting this. Oh, don't worry grazing is perfectly normal, dogs like to reveal their inner cow. LOL

As many have mentioned, grass eating is normal for most pups and dogs. Not only should you keep an eye out for chemicals, but make sure your pup doesn't eat or drink from outdoor areas where mud or water is stagnant, or might carry wildlife poo.
