Tummy Toubles?

Scooter hasn't been wanting to eat. Yestuday I had to wet down his food(breakfast) and sit right next to him while he pieced threw his food. He would eat A little then get un interested. I had to keep on putting him back by his food to get him to eat.

Last night I left and came home around nine. Scooter eats at 8:45 then potty and bed. Well last night he didn't want to eat anything. And I mean it sniff the food and turn his head. His tummy was small so he was starving. His stomaxh was gogin nuts just making all these weird noises. When it sounded I thoght he was craping like right there. It happened while I was holding him and itwas kinda scary. He only went poop once yesturday. Me and my dad sat up with him putting really wet food in his mouth he finally got the hang of it eat about 10 pieces of food. He is eating the same food the breeder gave us.

My dad thought he was gogin to really crap all over his kennal.Luckly he didn't! Still no kennal acidents. He went potty and poop this morning for my dad, he followed in alleys footsteps.

So he made it threw the night.

Dad says he might be like a grazer and we have to feed him more then twice a day.

And Advice to help??

What were the noises??

Thanks

It is a good idea to feed young puppies more than twice a day if you can. 3-4 times is good. I know the pugs were picky eaters. Lanie was the worse and we hand fed them for a while. Now they gobble up their food like no tomorrow. I would keep an eye on him though. The stomach noises might mean his stomach is upset. If he has firm poo and isn't going everywhere all the time or throwing up; it should be a big deal. However, if he doesn't eat something might be wrong.

Puppies should either have 5 or 6 small meals a day or just leave the kibble down..........especially for dogs who are going to be small. Your dad is right......they ARE grazers. Sounds like your puppy almost went into shock. Buy the tube of Nutri-Cal and give a little to him each day. It's the consistancy of tooth paste, is beef flavor and you will have no problems getting him to gobble it down. Personally I would also leave his kibble down all the time so he can eat whenever he is hungry. Has he had worm medication? How about a Vet. check? I would take him in for a good check up and let the Vet. know what happen.

I agree, puppies need to be fed smaller meals more often during the day and shouldn't be given just two meals but don't think this is an issue of anything more than your pup being distracted from eating.

Pups eat when their hungry but when in a new environment with new exciting people and things going on they often simply forget their hungry, their little tummies can be growling to the point where you'll hear it from across the room but they'll act as if they just couldn't possibly take a bite just because their more interested in what is going on or who is around them.

If your wee one has already been vet checked, isn't running a temp, vomiting or acting any different than since day one try starting to get the pup into the habit of eating in the crate. Put the food and pup in and walk away, leave the pup alone without distraction for awhile and see if things don't turn around. Obviously your pup won't like it at first and may whine but within a few days it will become very obvious when its time to eat / have that quiet time. jmo

I have also heard that plain yogurt is good for upset tummies, my dogs liked it when they weren't feeling that good.

I would also free feed your lil pup too, they do tend to graze.

Also white rice and chicken is good for upset tummies...

Hope your lil one is feeling better

He did a lot better today. This mornig when my dad took him out to eat he ate alot, then he left the bowl in his kennal and when I checked on him it was all GONE!!! yipeee!! today I have been starting to cliccker train, just click treat so far. He did very well, adn ate quite a bit. we did that twice, one more meal today.

When he went poo just about 1/2 hr. ago my dad felt in(in the baggy) and he noticed there were worm type things in it. He has been wormed so maybe the last are comming out.

He is gogin to the vet in about 2 wks. to get his secound vaccination. then another in 2 more wks. then the neuter. ( :\ )
