Please learn from what happened to us......
some of you have read our other posts about our puppy having pneumonia-but I want to tell you lesson learned here: and boy are we going throught it. We got our puppy from the breeder-and SHE
noticed first (then I heard it) that he had a slight cough----she called her vet---and they perscribed Clavimox. She offered to keep him for the 10 days and treat him--I said "oh no we can give him his antibiotic no big deal!" Little did I know---he'd had one dose of Clavamox and about a hour after we got home( it was pretty long drive) he litterally jumped off my daughter's lap from the sofa and broke his arm . (Left front in the growth plate) Two surgeries later- he now has full blown PNEUMONIA--- he is sick but stable. The vet that did the surgery says it came from the breeder----the fact is:how do you know_she has called every other day to check on him.....we should have never brought him home with even a little cough We are so sad b/c we don't know what to dothere is so much stress-but I will say Joby seems a little better each day----but with pneumonia we know it could turn. Please pray-for him. |

A-w-w, I'm so sorry you and he have been going through such a hard time. I do send my best wishes for his recovery. It's such a shame that he has a broken leg on top of being so sick....poor little guy. Do keep us posted.
(((hugs to both))) |

Poor guy. What has the breeder said about his having pneumonia? Has she offered to help pay for his Vet. bill? She isn't in my opinion a reputable breeder. I'm so very sorry for all you and the puppy are going thru. and I hope he has a speedy recovery real soon.

When I brought my first dachshund home from the breeder she had kennel cough. We took her to the vet for the cough and within a week it had turned into pneumonia. I wonder if your pup had kennel cough. All of my dog's litter mates ended up with the cough. It took two months for the coughing to stop. All of the antibiotics she was on gave her urinary tract infections too so watch out for those in your pup. Good luck Joby, I hope you feel better soon.
