puppy issues.......

hi! a greatly enthusiastic new 8-week old puppy owner here. i have some serious questions about the breed origins of my new puppy. they claim that he is a german/aussie shepherd cross; but chino is 8 weeks old, 13 pounds, and has paws the size of my palm. i just wanted if anyone had experience with either of the breeds from newborn ( which we know he is, he doesnt even have all of his teeth!!! ) i am just terrified that im going to take him to the vet and they're going to say, " oh, what a pretty St. Bernard!! " or something to that effect. large breeds are so prone to health problems, and this is a MAMMOTH puppy!!! let me know- thanx!!!!

I don't know a whole lot about either breed, but a friend of mine had an AKK puppy born in her last litter that was 14 pounds at 8 weeks of age, and now a fully grown dog and weighs in at 40 pounds. You might not know this, AKK are only suposed to be 8-25 lbs, depending on their size.

Also, my sheltie Cooper is a sheltie, he weighed 11.7 pounds when we brought him home, now at 18 months of age he is over 45 lbs, and the vet claims that he is in good health except his seizure problem, related to his heart.

So there is a chance that Chino is a really big puppy, and can be a big dog when he/she reaches the time!

All breeds are prone to health problems.
If I were you, I'd read up about both the GSD and the Aussie Shepherd. They're behaviour, care, diet and health issues. The knowledge will be of great help to you.
If you're not 100% sure he's what he's suppose to be, post some pictures in our picture forum for us. Either way, we'd love to see him, he sounds adorable.

Cass.
