What I can do to "boost" my puppy's nutrition while he is recovering from pneumonia?

Okay friends out there: I want to do EVERYTHING on our end to get Joby better----his temp is down to normal now and appears in a good place now but I wonder if my friends here have any extra nutritional tips etc. to boost him?

I would really appreciate any help!!!!

Keep him out of cold drafts, AC and such, keep him inside and as quiet as possible, and make sure he's getting a good vitamin supplement. He may act 100% normal, but it takes awhile for the lungs to heal completely.

Well, one thing I myself would would do is to start the dog off on a good Probiotic. Your little guy has been on so many drugs which I'm sure has lowered the natural bacteria.

I'd also start supplementing with a good multi-vitamin, Colostrum and I'm also a big fan of Vetri DMG Liquid. jmo

Boiled eggs are great and you can get most of those things through just about any supply house online or if you have one in your area they should carry most of them.

Some prescription diets are ok but it seems that most vets tend to carry Hills more than anything else. Adding Missing Link would be awesome.

Colostum is used with pups as well as adult dogs to boost their immunity.

When Jagger had his problems when he was younger the vet gave us a bulk up diet. It had boiled eggs, cottage cheese, sugar, and some other things in it.

I can get the recipe for you if you want it!

ok, here it is:

1/2 cup cream of wheat (cooked)
1.5 cups cottage cheese
1 large hard boiled egg
2 table spoons yeast
3 table spoons sugar
1 table spoon vegetable oil

once you have the cream of wheat cooked by the directions on the box, all you have to do is mix it all together.

This is the diet that we used to give Jagger, back when he was really sick. He weighed 6 pounds then, now he is at 11.7 pounds.

Hope it works for you the same way it worked for us!

Great Kymcole! A nice energy booster as well as something to put on a bit of weight.

One word of caution though, if you try this out start slowly and don't let him gobble it down. Antibiotics can cause loose stool as it is and the veggie oil and cottage cheese will make him a bit loose at first so go slowly.

Yea, we started Jag out with a couple table spoons and then moved him up a little more each week.
