While my puppy sleeps...
My puppy seems to sleep with her eyes partially opened... I know she's sleeping cause I can see her eyes rolling around and she's non responsive until I wake her up. It's kinda freaking me out and I'm hoping nothing is wrong. Is it common for puppies to sleep with their eyes partially open? Or should I take her to the vet? She's not due for a checkup until second week of August... She also seems to dream A LOT! I always see her twitching and whimpering in her sleep, when I wake her up she seems fine... I'm worried any suggestions?

2 out of the 3 of ming do it (but you can't see the thirds eyes). If they are wide open I might worry a little but if they are just open a little I don't think I woud worry myself.

No, that's normal. They do that and I think we do that when we're in REM mode. And even after. I see that too...always have.

My oldest pug has always tended to sleep with his eyes open quite a bit, more so than normal. I give him eyedrops to moisturize them. When I got him, he did that, and he was kept outside in a las vegas backyard, so his eyes did get damaged, and he has a whopping case of PK, but with drops, his problem hasn't worsened much in the last 4 yrs.
I'm rambling. LOL. I think your little one is just fine. |

All totally normal.
I had a GSD years ago that slept with one eye totally open throughout his life. lol We always said he was such a good watch dog that even when he slept he still had an eye on the place! ![]() |

Well, I don't know about all dogs, but Labs, I believe have an extra (inside) lid, more translucent. They also have a very thick sclera, covering over the eye, thicker than ours. So, I would think they're pretty well protected. You could run it by your vet. Just give a phone call and ask. Then you can come back and tell us.
