Exclamation Very Urgent!!!!!

I was going to get a labrador puppy around the 17th of November, it was born on the 17th of September. However the finca which he, his mother and his littermates lived in was robbed, and the burglars took 7 out of 10 puppies. Now there are only three left. The owner is worried that the burglars might come back. He says if we want it we must get it now . But it's only three weeks old. The vet says I should try to delay it as long as we can, but that we shouldn't lose it.
I need some help quick! Please!

Three weeks is WAY too young to be away from mom. I think you shouldn't take it yet, wait at least three more weeks... tough call - sorry to hear about this situation!

Too young! If the breeder is that concerned, he/she should get the remaining puppies/mamma in a safer location.

Thanks, we're going to see him (the man not the dog) now and I'll see if I can delay. I think he is concerned, trouble is he works in a shop all day so he can't keep an eye on the pups. By the way, he's not a breeder.

I wouldn't do it. You're likely to have lots of behavior problems later on if you do. If he doesn't want to wait, I suggest looking elsewhere.

What an awful situation.
I am somewhat confused though, you said this man is not a breeder? Yet he has a litter of puppies?
As for getting a pup at 3 weeks...that is WAY too young...WAY. Good luck what and awful situation.

If you still want one of those puppies, suggest to the man that he relocate ALL the dogs to a safe location -- unfortunately, the puppies who were stolen are probably doomed. Who could do such a thing?

Why would someone steel puppies. and even that young. That is crazy. That is horible for the owner. I am guessing that this was an accidental pregnancy. Poor mom and poor pups.

We've been to see him, and he says he's moving the mother tonight. Turns out the pups got stolen bit by bit, one or two going missing at a time. They took all the females, to breed I suppose, and the ones they didn't take were the males. Though chances are that if he leaves them in the same place they'll get taken too. We have a week more. He'll be a month old then. Sigh. Oh well, it's something. We pick him up on Friday, unless something changes.

He just has a lot of dogs.

I'm not really sure. Perhaps it was. He owns the mother and the father, so it's quite probable that an accident should occur.

OK...confusion city here! He only noticed NOW the pups were missing? How long did it take to get all the females? A couple hours? A couple days? How can you 'miss' a couple of pups? And how does he know they took the pups over a matter of time and not all at once?

Something just seems fishy here...

I have to agree with Princess Jodi. Something doesn't seem right. Did you put any money into it yet? like a deposit or something?

No, we did. We only found out today.

They were stolen over several days. They're in a finca , which is a sort of house in the country with quite a lot of land attatched to it. But he works almost all the day in his shop in town, and he lives in the town, so he left someone in charge. When he came back, there were two pups less than before, and it turned out that the person in charge had let someone in. I know it's a mess, I can't understand it myself properly.

Because the aforementioned happened several days in succesion. Or so I gather, anyhow.

With this whole mess going on AND the fact he is not a breeder, I certaninly hope you didn't...or at least not that much anyways.

Personally, I would steer clear of the whole thing...something is NOT right and taking a pup that young from the mom is not good.

Whoever was in charge obviously was NOT paying attention to the pups or he / she would have noticed something was amiss. How can you miss even one pup...let alone several over a couple of days. And how did the thief get them away from the mom in the first place? When my dog had pups, anyone she didn't know was not allowed near her pups...let alone close enough to take one.

Too many unanswered questions...
