Exclamation Why is she puking so much?

Hi again!

Little Angel is quite the subject lately...

Here's the problem...

She's been puking out her food for the last 3-4 days and she has no appetite (except for her soft food ).

This is what we're feeding her:

Wellness Chicken Puppy mix
Wellness soft food sweet potato
she eats some carrotts throughout the day
and some peanut butter in the morning...

we cut the treats out of her diet for a few days since we thought it was that which was bothering her...we cut out the soft food and just gave her dry food and that still didnt work...we cut out the veggies...nothing...she seems to puke alot later after she eats...maybe 2 hrs later...

Could this be due to something else that she's eating that we dont see? (we dont have food lying around the house so I doubt it's this)

Could it be her bones? We buy her bones from the organic pet store...she really chews on those things ALOT...could it be that she has her mouth so wide open and it's doing this? I didnt think of this since she has had these bones for over 3 weeks now (we buy her new ones obviously)

Oh...she's 5 months and losing teeth...

I hope she'll be ok

I'd take her to the vet, just to be sure there isn't a problem. If she's sick, it could explain why she becomes uncomfortable being in her crate early in the morning. She may feel ill.

Cass.

Make a vet appointment. Vomiting and having little to no appetite for so many days is concerning - she needs food and water in order to grow and be healthy, this is too long for a little puppy to be losing valuable nutrition. Hope she's feeling better soon.

i agree, get her to a vet.

1) you have a puppy. they have less reserves and are susceptible to many more things than adults

2) you have a small breed - double what i said above - she simply doesnt have the reserves a larger breed would have, and her blood glucose levels are more sensitive to not eating, shes more sensitive to dehydration.

3) this is prolonged now. it could be something she ate, it could be a lot of things. dont wait, get it checked now before she gets REALLY sick.

She doesnt always puke...she'll only throw up once a day...so that's one full meal that is ok...and she's fine and active...so is she sick? or it it sth she's eating?

It's a holiday here in Canada and we can only take her to the vet on tuesday..

If your pup is throwing up regularly and for more than a day - please call the vet ASAP.

She had stopped puking for a good 2 days and then today after pouring some warm water over her dry food that she hasnt been eating, and after having her eat some, she puked again.

She is eating soft food, treats, and everything else...and even when I mix the soft food with the dry food, she'll manage to only eat the soft stuff.

She has a vet appointment for her last booster shot (rabies) on thursday...We cannot bring her to a vet sooner than that.

I am beginning to think that it's her lack of dry food that is making her puke, since she only eats soft food and carrotts. She has gotten into this habit of not eating dry food and I think it's making her stomach upside down.

Does this make any sense?

You can wet the dry kibble and mash it to be "soft" food.

Peanut butter can upset puppies' stomachs, too. Definitely cut that out and see if it helps.

It might be an allergy or adverse reaction to her kibble. When my dog bailey was about 5 months old she started throwing up every morning after she ate. I took her to the vet 3 times and they couldn't figure anything out and told me to give her pepsid for heart burn! She had been on the same puppy kibble that we got from the breeder and had been fine on it the whole time but I thought the problem must be with the food. I called her breeder and he told me to start slowly switching her to Precise Sensicare dog food ( adult ) for the next week. By the time I had her fully switched to the new food she had stopped getting sick. She is now two years old and I tried to switch her food to Innova. She did fine on Innova for about two months and then started throwing up again. I put her back on Precise Sensicare and she has been fine ever since.

I think you should take your pup to the vet just to be sure she doesn't have a stomach blockage or something and if she gets a clean checkup try slowly switching her food to something Holistic or something for sensative tummies.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Btw, she has been on Innova and Wellness. It cant be her dry food since she doesnt eat it; however, when I hand feed her she eats it, albeit slowly.

I will wait to speak to the vet.

Also, I was wondering... How many times a day should I expect Angel to poo? I noticed that it varies, and is this normal? Assuming she eats two meals a day (dry and soft food) and that she has treats in between.

Tnank you again for all the great advice!
