Barking at night...

this isn't a big deal, but it cuased me to lose some sleep early this morning.

Last night I opened up Lucy's Kennel to it's full size (it's been partitioned off since I got it becuase she was still pretty small). She sleeps in her kennel nightly (which is only cuz I have two cats who barely get any peace and quiet, so at night they can run around without her chasing them...I hope some day soon to let her out of her crate at night...) Well, at about 5am Lucy let out one little bark! she never does this, well almost never. Sometimes around 7 or 8 if I'm not up yet and she needs to potty she does this. But never at 5am! Anyways, then I got paranoid and thought maybe someone was in my apartment and she was telling me about it. I got really paranoid when I heard a noise and my cat - who was sleeping on the bed with me purring - got all alterted and stopped purring. Well, I ended up getting out of bed with 911 dialed into my phone all ready to hit send, and searching my apartment room by room (which is easy becuase it's pretty small) to make sure no one was in here with me. They weren't, but I was all freaked out and had a tought time falling back asleep.
When I got up Lucy was laying in her kennel, not up or moving around.

So, my questions -
Do dog ever talk in thier sleep?
Do you think the changing of the kennel size had anything to do with it? Quite frankly she looked a lot happier in there this morning that she has looked with it all small.

Just wondering what everyone's thought is.

I have had that happen to me before too! So scary. Overy great once in a while my husband will have to work an odd shift (he is a Plumber and sometimes they have to work on open businesses so they do it in the middle of the night) in the middle of the night. It never fails that is when one of my normally quiet dogs lets out a bark and I can NOT fall back asleep for fear someone is tryingt o get in or worse is already in.
That feeling of waling around a dark house with an almost dialed phone SUCKS!
I think it is poss for them to bark while sleeping. I mean they whine and run so why not?
I am sure she is happier witht he full crate at her disposal, I doubt that had anything to do witht he bark though. Maybe she thought she heard soemthing or was simply dreaming like you said.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one spooked by simple things like a little bark!
