Coffee breath?

I've heard about the joys of "puppy breath," but has anyone else's puppy had "coffee breath?" My friend's Basset hound puppy, who's about 10 weeks old now, licked me on the nose the other night, and I promise you, his breath smelled like coffee! Everyone else in the group thought the same thing when he did it to them. Would it just be the food that he's getting, or is this something innate? I don't remember any puppy I've ever had having coffee breath!

I've never heard of the "coffee breath" but for some reason I just adore puppy breath. When I smell it, it makes me all warm and mushy inside.

Probrably because it reminds me of puppies

That would be much better than fish breath my girls have from the salmon oil. Do you think the puppy got into coffee grounds or even some coffee that may have been set on the floor. Sometimes my husband will sit his drink on the floor beside him when he's sitting there looking thru the CD's and the dogs will take a lick if they like the smell.

calgal, I don't think so. His human doesn't drink coffee. I wonder if it's something about his puppy food...

I just got an eight week old bassett hound puppy on Saturday and his breath smells like coffee also. He has not ever been into coffee. It must be breed specific. I hope it goes away. I cant stand the smell of coffee.
