Storm and Yukon
My two big pups are getting along just fine. They play alot together and they have a great time. No fighting, no growling, they are buddies. Storm is clearly the boss, he eats first, drinks first and gets pet first. But no issues and I was worried for a while but they never really ahd any issues they seem to always get along together. THank goodness for that. Yukon stays in the kennel at night and outside during the day and Storm stays in the house. Storm gets to go play with Yukon throughout the day though and starting today Yukon is back in the house during the day. I am going to work on his dominance with me and with our trainer so hopefully he will stop cocking his leg on me. It will give the pups a friend inside to play with too. Will keep you updated on this!

Thank you he just thinks he is over me. I have noticed since Storms arrival he has improved quite a bit. We were hoping the new dog would act as a bit of a buffer and put Yukon down on the rank ladder abit and it has worked some. Now we just need to train him the rest of the way down the ladder. He is a stubborn boy but that is mostly due to his extreme prey drive. I would never ever trade him or re home though. We love him and he will be a great dog, he has already made hugh improvements in his life. We were actually considering PTS due to his aggression and now he is not aggressive at all. The personal protection training has redirected his drive and made wonderful gains. We still go through phases where I scratch my head but he is getting there. He is still a pup so still has a load of learning to do but that is ok. We are willing to work with him and Storm.

So far they are both being very good! No one is showing their little devil sides yet! roflmao
Storm is very dominanting today with Yukon he is humping him every thirty seconds. Yukon just stands there and does not argue at all so I guess he is just a bit to young to challenge the dominance yet. |

Glad to hear things are going well. Hope they stay that way too.
Denali and Lilly are constantly "competing" for the lower rank. It's back and forth... they both want to be more dominant than the other and some days one seems more so than the other. *sigh* The trainer that Lilly had seen while she was with the lady we gave her to, said that letting them fight was okay. I understand to a certain degree it's okay for them to work it out. A little bit of growling and barking to let the other know what for ends it, but on occassion will it escalate to physical. That's when we step in, but we don't scold either of them. We just break it up and fix whatever caused it (usually a toy or bone) and that's the end of it. Sarge has actually taken that "alpha" status over the dogs (of course never over us.. they all know WE are alpha). He lets them know when enough is enough and if they don't listen he lets them know. Lilly likes to back talk him though She'll bark and jump around and runs in a circle with her butt towards the ground. She's such a brat! But she knows not to mess with him and not to mess with Sheiba. My mom's friend who was going to take her has finally got a house and are definetly taking Lilly. So hopefully by the end of this year or the beginning of next, Lilly will be in a nice home with all the attention she needs and wants. It's a lot of work with 4 boogers! Lemme tell ya! Thankfully we've never had any dominance problems towards the humans. Just when Lilly came along she was very shy of men and didn't trust them much at all. Barked at my dad a lot in the mornings but she's now warmed up to him and actually just about any person who walks in. She'd let in a whole party of strangers and welcome them with a wagging butt! ![]() |
