Does neutering cause regression in potty training?
The Mocha saga continues. Mocha was never fully potty trained before being neutered, but he was doing well enough where I would trust him to run around the house during the day (on the weekends when I'm home) and tell me he has to go out by sitting by the patio door. I would say he was about 75% reliable. The only times that he had peed in the house would be in the morning if I didn't give him enough time to pee outside (if he was nosing around for say over 20 minutes).
Anyway, yesterday when I got him home from the vet, I had already taken him out when we first got home. He drank some water and about 10 minutes later he sat by the patio door. I didn't let him out because I was trying to see if he would ring the doggie bell. He didn't and well, after I didn't let him out, he walked around a bit and then went back to the door and peed. That was my fault. I take responsibility for it. This morning, he simply ran to the patio door and instead of sitting there to be let out, he simply squatted and peed with no warning. I yelled no and took him outside, but the damage was done. Now I'm wondering if this is simple regression or what's going on? I'm a little confused. |
