Black Olives

Hi everyone im new to this forum , just joined today 18/10/05.

I have a question that hopefully somebody could give me the answer!

I have a 12 week old puppy Bull Terrier and she is beutiful, the only thing is we have a black olive tree in our back garden and the olives fall onto the ground and our puppy likes to eat them occasionally im a bit worried because i dont know if olives are dangerous to dogs!
Ive told her no firmly but she keeps going back for seconds!
she still runs around as normal and i havent seen any ill effects ,if someone knows anything it would be much appreciated.

Thanks Dan

Some literature places black olives as toxic to dogs. From what I've heard, it would be a built up toxicity and the effects would be long term, or they could be acute if she ingested a large number at one time.
If it were me and my dog, I would fence that area off, so that she can not reach it.

Avoid the temptation of sharing the Thanksgiving or Christmas feast. The number one problem during the holidays is that of dogs eating food they shouldn’t eat. Poultry skin, fat trimmings, rich gravies, buttery sauces, onions and black olives can make a dog seriously ill, and can cause a condition called pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is where the pancreas becomes inflamed. The effects can range from mild to severe.
