Chewing carpet.

So we have our first bad habbit. Biscuit chews the carpet and pulls out pieces of carpet with his front teeth. We only have carpet downstairs and I could keep him upstairs but he loves to come down here and chase the kitty and it's nice now that he can go up and down the stairs to be able to have him with me when I'm downstairs.
So question is how should I go about teaching him that carpet is not for chewing or pulling on?

You have to watch puppies constantly to prevent them from doing the wrong thing. It's like having a crawling baby in the house. You just have to watch them every minute. It's a lot easier to prevent a behavior from happening than to try and stop it after it's started. Try to interupt him before or just as he starts picking at the carpet. Tell him it's wrong and give him a suitable chew toy to chew instead of the carpet. It's normal puppy behavior to chew. You just have to teach him what he can chew.

Good that's what I'm doing. I'm always with him and always know what he's up to so he hasn't had a chance to actually get at the carpet without me intrrupting him.

amlet used to love the carpet under my bed. his poop would hang off his butt cause it was all connected by strings of carpet. i sprayed bitter apple over the area and he hasn't gone back since. even though the spray fades, i think he forgot about it. bitter apple is great, but check it on materials first even though it's usually harmless.
