Today's the day! (or "Winston will never be a show dog!")

All right, it seems like we have a lot of pups here at GP achieving this milestone lately. Winston heads to the vet this morning at 8:00 for his neutering surgery. Luckily, I'm leaving work early to pick him up at 4:00.

We're hoping, of course, for a complication-free procedure. I'll update when I get my poor sweetbun home!

(We bought him an e-collar last night and made him wear it for a while so it wasn't completely foreign. He is NOT a fan, LOL. I swear he knows something's up. We gave him extra water at 11 because he couldn't eat/drink after midnight... he had to potty at 2 am, and then he just sat in the kitchen, staring at the fridge, waiting for me to get his treats out. I swapped some bellyrubs for food treats, but I don't think he thought it was a fair trade. )

I love the subject line, too cute and a neat way of putting it.

They have a way of making us feel guilty, don't they?! Keep us posted on how it went.

A-w-w-w.....good luck Winston. Don't worry your mother and play it up too much. It will all be back to normal (as far as you're concerned) within a few days. Have no fear.

(((hugs)))

Thanks, everybody... I'm just waiting to hear from the vet. While he's under anesthesia, she's going to decide whether his umbilical hernia should be reduced and call about that.

The vet called! He came through just fine and is recovering. I can pick him up anytime after 3:30 pm my time. I don't think I'll get there until 4 pm, though... but I'm just happy he had a successful surgery without complications.

And she decided that his hernia was not reducible, was completely closed, and will be a permanent fixture on his little belly.

I hope Winston is home and doing super. Does he need the e-collar? If so, how is he adjusting?

We're home! He's soooo sad, though. He didn't lick at the vet's office, but started right away at home, so the collar went on. He was shivering, so I covered him with a blanket and kept one hand on him while we watched a movie. Then he started making a tiny crying noise and we took off the blanket and found that he'd peed. Poor baby! I snuggled him for a while and then we put his crate close to him and he crawled right inside. Now he's hunched over, snoring.

My baby is miserable! But it will pass. And comforters can be dry cleaned.
