healthy treats
What should I use for a treat for a 1 1/2 pound terrier. 8 weeks on Thurs. I am using his puppy kibble flavored with a little nurti-cal. However I'm sure it will bore him soon as it is his regular food also.

I like liver biscotti, Charlie bears, natural balance rolls (cut into tiny pieces) but my fav is my own liver treats- very cheap, easy to make , very healthy and dogs go nuts for them. The recipe is posted in the training forum.

Give Yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, small carrot sticks, unsalted & all natural peanut butter, apples, pears and such. I wouldn't be giving the Nutri-Cal unless he has been run down from being sick or isn't eating very well.

I have been using an organic dog treat bakery in Edmond, OK named Good Dog Bakery. They use healthy ingredients and my dogs really like them. They have toy size bones for small dogs. They will let you try them for free at www.agooddogbakery.com.

At that age they need to learn a good eating habit first and give a nice femur bone to chew on. If they get too many yummy treats, they will not want to eat their food..........kind of like human kids.
