My "Fact" pages

Well I'm still gathering information for my information pages but atleast I got two pages up. I'm going for however many I can but I hope to include pictures I have, pedigrees from way back when and some Labby facts. I wanted to see how you guess like it so far and what you think of the whole idea ? Now excuse the typos' and sentence structure tho , I haven't had the time to go thru polish it up yet

Wow....this is really cool. What a great start you have. Yes, go through and fix those typos so they don't build up to be too many as you make more pages. That's my idea.

Is Midnight Labradors your very own name for a business? Are you going to put in more photos? What else will you add? This is just fantastic! Way to go!

Thanks Carrie. I know, I need to get that done and I'll do that befor adding any more pages. Seems like between work, Beau and I getting ready for the upcoming show and keeping up at home , I just don't have very much time to do very much online. I think today I'll polish it up a bit and get it togather, or atleast try . I know I am a horrid speller lol. Actually yeah ,Midnite Labradors will be my "Kennel" name if I ever get that far. I think a new addition will be in the distant future but I'll keep it slow and just see where I go with Beau and how he does and how I do. But these pages will be linked to my web site once I get it up and running at a 100% or atleast 99.9% anyway. I thought it would be good to get some info on there. Oh, yeah I'll be adding more pictures as soon as I can(I've got a TON lol). I've got to scan them all then upload them and then add the discription. Then , at the same time(ugh) type out all the pedigrees I though I'd use. I'll also add links to pedigrees I have found on other pedigree databases to keep my self from over working. I think it'll be a very long addition to my site after I'm thru. I did set my deadline for Sept. 1st but I may have to push it back b/c I have no clue on how many pages I may be having.

Great looking site

You obviously have some knowledge of programming, so the one suggestion I have Is adding a thumbnail column of the left side. There are some simple Javascript ones out there have have a cool scrolling effect. Also have you considered centering the top menu?? Sorry a bit of a programming buff myself. I love the color choices, they look great.

Good ideas Mulroony. I love the colors too. Paws n claws....I think you sound very busy. This is a lot of work. I can see it's going to be good. You have lots of good ideas. Here's a website I think is a good one. It's Lyric's breeder's site. You might like some of her ideas for layout..awesome photo effect on first page. http://www.marienburg-dobermans.com/

Thanks. Well only a little, very little lol. Every one in my family thinks "I'm good with computers" just because they want little to do with them. The truth is, I'm not all that great, but try telling them that lol. I'll try but what I can do is limited. I'm using bravenet and they won't allow JavaScript unless its "Their" copy & Past codes. I would love to get "my" own web site but I'm afraid that's out of the question .. for now anyway. This will have to do. The top menu will be centered as soon as I add the remaining pages. I've yet to even start on them, I got my two pages up with in a hurry(and at night) and had to go back and polish them up. Thankfully I got my main page done and working, right now I'm finishing up my 2nd page.

She's got a nice site(Gorgeous dogs too

). Ah yes, that's a great picture on the first page. I would love to do one like that but I'm afraid I'm not that good. Like I said, I'm not all to good with things like this or even web sites.. I know, I only hope I can get this finished soon and I hope it does turn out good. Well again, Thanks. I'll let you all know when I add any more pages, I always like a few opinions and some ideas on how I can make it look good.

Well, you sure know more than I about website construction. I would love to learn how it all works. I know you can make some money with the advertisers, right. (?) I am also starting up a little business here with a very few customers....a little basic obedience, clicker conceptual training and behavior help. It all started in the beauty shop. LOL. You know how word of mouth goes. So, without even aggressively going after it, it seems the ball is beginning to roll. But I don't want a big deal going...just a little consulting and helping, small groups or individuals. (It's not very populated around here anyhow.) I'm too busy...working on a book, which I can see will be a long time in the making.

I would like to eventually get a website going. So, if you know anything you could share with me, that would be great. I've been spending a little time reading up on it. But I am really quite bad with the computer.

Your site is going to be great!

I believe so but I've haven't really tryed it. Thats sounds great !! I think that is very cool. You don't know how hard it is to find a trainer here or even a class around here, its a needle in a hay stack for sure. Well I don't know to much ,so I don't know how helpfull I'd be. Bravenet hosts for free and offer templates to get started. Since my site is going to be simple and I'm not starting a real buinsess(yet) , I thought a free one would do for now and untill I gain some knowlegde too lol. So all I did was pick colors, add my info , pictures and then add pages. I know, I'm not that great either but I think once you get a goin, you'll do fine and your site will be just as good

IMO the best hosting site is Go-Daddy (although I know Dozzy Dog has a great one as well). Hosting is fairly cheap (under $10 a month usually).

Carrie - O'Reilly writes TONS of programming books, and most people would agree that they are the best source. They can be a bit pricy, but you might be able to pick one up for cheap online or your library might carry them. The easiest way to get free code is to go to a site you like, right click and go "view source". If I see something I like I will often look how they did it and then adopt my own version. Also the "for dummy" books are really great sources for beginners. A lot of the other books are very technical, but I did like the "teach yourself ... in so many days" books.

I got a quote from our local ISP and they said it would cost $25-$35 a month for hosting and $350 for them to build my site and maintain it for an extra charge. I guess they're over charging a bit . I have been looking around but neven really though of getting one yet. I'll stick with the free site untill I know I can afford a site. Thats the last thing on my mind now , I'm worried about Beau. He may have an early sign of HD and he'll be going to the vet next week for an x-ray... I contacted his breeder and she's on stand-by incase some thing is wrong. She'll talk with the vet and then we'll talk about what to do next- either I get a refund or credit towards another puppy later down the road. I'm really not thinking its HD but I want to be safe. Thanks Carrie, I know. My first is kinda dull lol. I'm trying to fix it , maybe add some blue later on.

Hopefully everything turns out the best with beau and it is not HD. HD and wobblers are two ailments I never want to encounter with my dogs, but we already think Jackson will be afflicted by it.

Oh, I hope he'll be OK. That is something to worry about, all right. But there are treatments, surgeries that can help.

No, your other site, I don't think is dull. I just like the other one....maybe it's on account of the blue. I love blue and as you add more pictures and things, it will be even better. I'm impressed!

Thanks, I hope he's find too. He doesn't wobble though, he walks fine around the house , in the yard and when we go for a walk around 1 block(his gait is normal). If he plays or goes for a long walk, he walks slow and his gait is kinda odd to me(like he slumps around(tired ?? ). I told his breeder this and she thinks he just may be plum lazy due to his size(he's already 54lbs and he's not even 6 months yet- we(vet and I) think he'll be aroun 80lbs). Anyway she agrees and told me that doing and x-ray would be the best . He's a show bred, not exactly what I was looking for since I can't do field trials with him but he's my big baby and I love him, so he'll be less active then Dixie, Bud , Rain an Daisy. Anyway thanks again, I'm making the appointment tomorrow for a day I have off next week, its gong to be hard for me since he'll have to stay 4 hrs at the vet, I'm going to miss him so much

Yeah I guess the colors do make a difference, but I think I'll still try and add blue and see how it looks. Thanks. Oh, I did add another page, it isn't at 100% yet but its up, its History. I still have alot to add, I may even need a History Page 2 lol.
