Exclamation Please HELP If You Can...NC

I found out about this at work today and Marissa, myself and some people from our works are going on Sunday to help. Then I got home and received an e-mail about it, so I figured I'd post for anyone close enough to help...

Quote:
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL E-MAIL FROM THE COORDINATORS OF THIS RESCUE

***URGENT***

Permission to crosspost/forward. DO NOT ALTER OR EDIT THIS E-MAIL;
this e-mail must be sent in its entirety.

Greetings! As a lot of you are well aware there has been an ongoing
investigation into a Sanford, NC puppymill. In December the court
issued a temporary injunction that allowed veterinarians to enter the
premises where the animals were housed and remove those who needed
medical attention. As of right now, volunteers are caring for over
100 dogs with the number expected to grow.

We are in desperate need of volunteers and donations. Currently,
shifts of volunteers are caring for these animals from approximately
8 am - 8 pm. Each animal must be removed from its kennel, fed and
watered and allowed to potty. As I\'m sure you can imagine this is
quite a time consuming task. We would love if people could commit to
1 shift per week, but will be grateful for whatever you can give.
Even if you can just stop by and offer an hour or two of your time
that would be wonderful. We also need individuals who can take loads
of laundry to our local Laundromat for washing. Donations of
quarters are also needed for this purpose.

Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (a local non-profit) is handling
the donations for this endeavor. Monetary donations may be mailed to
with a notation that your donation is for the puppymill animals:

CARA
Attn: Cindy Loftus
P.O. Box 2642
Sanford, NC 27331-2642

Those on the top of the list of needed items include:

Paper towels (this is a major necessity)
Brooms
Mops (self-wringing)
Buckets
Trash bags
Rubber Gloves
Bleach
Puppy food
Donations of food and/or drinks for our volunteers would also be
greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in lending a hand or donating items, please
send an e-mail to info@adoreyourpets.org or call Pat Sanford 919-619-
0091 and/or 0092

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide these wonderful
people.

CARA
_______________
Thank you,
Christina Davidson

I just spoke with Pat Sanford and she told me that the person these dogs were confiscated from is an animal hoarder rather than a "puppy miller" but the numbers are just amazing and very sad.

Any and all help is needed for those able to volunteer their time at the shelter, the Lions Club was kind enough to donate a building and right now their dealing with over 200 dogs! Since the court order stated only those with medical issues could be taken the dogs they currently have are all in need of medical attention, Pat stated that most suffer from moderate to severe dental problems as well as eye and respiratory ailments.

The majority of the dogs are Pugs, Boston Terriers, Poms and Yorkies. Currently the dogs are not available to be adopted out and are going slowly into foster care with breed rescues but there are so many things are at a slow pace. Pat advised they are going to be going back to court next Thursday to try and get an order to remove more of the dogs still left in deplorable conditions. If your able to donate this is a good cause from a reliable source, even if it's just to send some things from the list of items please do what you can.

Below is information on an emergency trust that has been set up for these poor dogs. All donations made to this address go strictly to the Sanford rescue operation going on now.

Capitol Bank
ALDF / Sanford Rescue Effort
2222 Jefferson Davis Highway
Sanford, North Carolina 27330

Thank you Kelly for posting this!! I'm off to make more phone calls to try and get several rescues involved from this area that may not know yet.

What's great is that our hospital that we work at is kind enough that we are taking 6 of the dogs tback with us and they will all get medical attention (bloodwork, etc.) and dentals. I think they are so great for allowing us to do this.

I've seen some of the pictures of those poor dogs from a post on a Pug forum.... a boston with a huge tumour.. pugs with horrible eyes. Heard a few stories about some of them and their health.. so darn sad. Just totally breaks my heart that they went through that.
