help me to fight for our pitbulls!
hello everyone, my name is christine drumbolis and i live in thunder bay, ontario. I am trying to find as many actual statistics and facts about pitbulls and all sorts of other breeds to fight this discrimination against such wonderful animals. I am also looking to find as many media sources or officials to help me to get through this, but my plan is simple...to prove to the world that they have been misguided and misinformed and to fully give every one of the earths creatures a fair opportunity on this planet. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or, the laws that are in place to prevent discrimination? If anyone out there is interested in helping these creatures (and only for their sake) or has information that may prove helpful to me, or even if u r a dog hater and want to disagree with me, your points are all welcomed and your time is appreciated. Please contact me at drumbolisc@hotmail.com
P.S. spread this info to everyone u possibly can, i need all the support i can get if i plan to even come close to pulling this off! And they say one person can't change the world...we'll see about that ![]() |

http://doglegislationcouncilcanada.org/ http://www.bannedaid.com From: LeeAnn O'Reilly Subject:BILL 132 ONTARIO PASSED, DEATH TO HEART AND HOME "We must all hang together, or, assuredly, we shall all hang separately." - Benjamin Franklin THE DOGS OF ONTARIO NEED YOUR HELP. Why should you care about the proposed ban of pitbulls, Staffies and Amstaffs in Ontario? Especially if you're in another part of Canada, or the world? After all, "the sacrifice of the few if the vast majority is spared", what could be easier? This is why. Breed specific legislation ("BSL") historically bans one breed at a time, then another, then another. BSL slowly erodes dog owners' rights. Once one breed has been banned, the precedent is set and all breeds are at risk; indeed, all dogs are at risk. Under BSL, the list of banned breeds usually gets longer over time. Italy is a prime example with its BSL targeting over 90 breeds, including breeds usually considered benign such as the bearded collie. BSL enforcement relies on the arbitrary judgement of police and animal control officers who may not have the training, expertise or even the legal right (depending on legal interpretation of the Canada Animal Pedigree Act) to identify a dog's breed. Seizure of what the officer thinks is a banned-breed dog may result in the dog being euthanized or sold to a research laboratory. Ontario's Bill 132 permits an officer to enter your home without a warrant and seize or destroy your dog, regardless of breed. Destroy your dog in your home. It happened in England and Germany, it can happen here. Are you now looking at your dog and starting to feel very uneasy, even a bit afraid? You should. Your breed may be next. The DLCC has now joined forces with four others - the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Canada, the Golden Horseshoe American Pit Bull Terrier Club, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Canada, and Shirley Bell of Bellcrest Boxers - as Banned Aid, to fight BSL in Ontario. Banned Aid has engaged Clayton Ruby as Banned Aid's legal counsel to fight BSL on behalf of Ontario dog owners and breeders at the provincial level. This fight is going to be expensive; the early estimate for the legal challenge is $100,000. We need your financial support to mount this battle against BSL in Ontario and possibly establish national precedent. Every dollar will help. There are several ways you can donate. 1. You can mail your cheque payable to the DLCC to: Cathy Prothro 351 Pleasant Street Dartmouth, Nova Scotia B2Y 3S4 Canada 2. For your convenience you can deposit from any bank directly into the Banned Aid Legal Fund by depositing to: Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Penhorn Mall, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Account 00513 010 1526839 3. You can also make an online payment from your financial institution's website by sending a bill payment to treasurer@doglegislationcouncilcanada.org 4. You may prefer to donate by PAY PAL. Please go to www.doglegislationcouncilcanada.org and click on the "Donate!" link for the Pay Pal tool. 5. Send cheques or money orders directly to Mr Ruby at the following address,c/o BANNED AID LEGAL CHALLENEGE FUND Ruby & Edwardh 11 Prince Arthur Ave. Toronto, Ont. M5R1B2 416 964 9664 6. Soon, you can bid on donated items in our online auction. You can have some fun and buy some gifts! Look for the BANNED AID AUCTION on www.bannedaid.com ! The Dog Legislation Council of Canada ("DLCC") is a Canada-wide non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible dog ownership, assisting provincial and municipal governments to develop effective licensing and enforcement legislation, and educating the public regarding dog bite prevention. The DLCC does not support any legislation that targets a breed instead of the real problem - the irresponsible owner. Its members are expected to abide by and promote the DLCC Code of Ethics. The DLCC is a proud member of the Banned Aid Legal Challenge Fund. Here's an article I just came across that is a rarity - a good news article about one particular pit.
Dog rushes to help Pit bull ran outside to rescue woman stranded in cold By DEREK PUDDICOMBE, Ottawa Sun IT WAS about -40C and Noella Mitchell lay helpless on the handicap ramp leading up to her home. She would soon be staring into the eyes of a pit bull and thinking she was about to die. The 42-year-old woman left her Craig Henry home one very cold morning last January to complete an errand. When she returned about 30 minutes later, she lost her balance and fell to the ground. Mitchell, who suffers from Graves' Disease which causes muscular weakness, wasn't able to pull herself up. Her attempts to right herself using her walker were futile. Before her fall, she was able to open the door enough so if somebody was inside they would have been able to hear her cries for help. However, her two children and a friend of her son's living at the house had already left for the day. Two months earlier, her son had come to his mother and asked if a friend could stay with them for a while. Mitchell hesitated because the boarder came with Cloe, a two-year-old female pit bull. ATTACKED AS CHILD Mitchell is dreadfully afraid of dogs. When she was a 10-year-old girl living in Montreal, she was attacked by a German Shepherd. When Mitchell finally agreed to her son's request, it was on the condition that since she is confined to the first floor of the home, Cloe would be kept upstairs at all times. On the ramp with her leg lying partially in the snow, Mitchell could hear the dog upstairs clawing at the bedroom door and moments later she looked up to see Cloe running towards her. "When I saw her, I thought I was dead," she said. But to her surprise, Mitchell said Cloe began licking her face and trying to bring attention to her fall. "She sat there beside me howling and barking and she started to lick the side of my legs." At one point, the dog attempted to pull Mitchell inside the house by grabbing onto her jacket. After about 30 minutes outside, the owner of the dog arrived home and helped Mitchell inside. She figures Cloe, determined to rush to her aid, somehow managed to get the bedroom door open. "I will never lock her up again," said Mitchell. |

hey everyone, thanks for reading, i am grateful especially to the one who wrote the story about the hero pitty. I just hope and pray that all of you will always remeber that you don't just have to hope for things to happen, you can make a difference. All it takes is perseverance. Anyways, i've gotten some feedback on my offer to take this to the high courts and i thank those involved for their support. Even if u do not find the time or energy to help me, just support me in the fight that i am about to start for all of the worlds pitbulls and similar breeds. I understand that i am a young girl who is willing to go against the world on this one and when the time comes i will be asking for every dog lovers help ranging from home videos to who-knows-who in government agencies. I do apologize for not having the time to explain to you what i am about to do or what my plan of action may be, but i will, so even though i may sound out of my mind, just remember that i am just a young girl that believes VERY strongly in equal rights. Love always, Christine.
