When to start glucosamine?

Would now at the age of 8 (guess by the vet) be a good time to give Gracie glucosamine. She seems a lot more stiff than she used to be and I think she might benefit from some.

I started most of my dogs on Glucosamine about the age of 7-9 years old.

Maybe your Vet. would have a good answer for you. I started mine on it as soon as I got them. Zada was 14 weeks, Azrael was 5 months and Razael was 14 weeks. More frequently these little guys have the knee problems. LP.

I second but I don't supplement just make sure their diet has natural sources of cartilage and connective tissue for good cartilage development and maintenance, just a personal preference.

If she is stiff, she may have arthritis already or just needs supplements but your vet can help determine that. She might need an x-ray to determine the issue(s).

I'd say it's a good time. I started both of mine at 8. Didn't mean to wait that long... but we did.

Just remember that glucosamine doesn't prevent inflamation; it just helps rebuild cartilage. It's a great supplement, don't get me wrong, but if you want something for stiffness, look into Wobenzyme or Zubrin. Zubrin is a prescription that you have to get from your vet. You can buy Wobenzyme on your own, and what's great about it is you can change the dose without issues; if the dog seems stiff on a certain day, you can up the dose until she seems better.

They have different kinds at pet stores and sometimes at the vet.
