Teaching Goose to be a drug dog

Any suggestions? So far so good but I would love suggestions!

No idea, but I know Justin's dog Mazie fancies herself a drug dog. LOL C'mon Justin....tell Trin about your famous drug sniffer dog!

In all seriousness, I'd be interested to find out how this works too.

Usually its best to get involved locally with people that do it, once you're doing it, you can get a DEA license and stuff and do it yourself, but this is one topic that isn't really discussed on message boards or with people you aren't seeing in person or know for many reasons. Criminals are always trying to find ways to beat the system

We have been in contact with the local club here that does some SAR training however no drug dogs.

Try the local or state police....if nothing else they can point you in the right direction. When I worked explosive dogs, I had a blast! LOL...no pun intended....(sorry, that was bad)

I dont see how a non police officer can do this. Drugs are illegal to posess even for training a dog. Even if your a cop and it isn't approved thru your dept. you cant have drugs in your possession.

I really dont see how you can legally do this in any way shape or form. Tracking, bomb sniffing, cadavour are all legal and possible without getting arrested.

Not to mention that if you are not law enforcement, no PD would even consider using your dog. The only one a PD might allow you to use your dog is for tracking down a lost child

I think you're a bit misinformed. You can get a dea license and have hoops to jump thru,but you can get small amounts of drugs to train a dog with. and yes PD's will use your dog to find drugs, assuming you've done the training, have the logs, and have all your certifications etc, in order. Small departments that can't afford a drug dog will use dogs like this.
