Simetra Update

Simetra is doing great. She is such a great dog, i dont see how anyone could mistreat her.

I dont think she was getting the proper nutrition or exercise. She has all fat and no muscle and is really puny (seems like she didnt grow well). Ever since she got here i have been feeding her semi-moist and a little bit of wet dog food and she is already filling out. I have also been giving her daily vitamins.

I have also been giving her 2 short work-outs a day, along with A.j. Since day 1 she has already been getting a little more muscle each day, proving that she has not been exercised (physically or mentally) at all at my freinds house. About 3 jumps and she is already panting and worn out, so she only gets about 5 minutes of training a day until she gets into better shape.

She is always desperate for attention. If i ignore her while watching tv, she will literally hit me with her paw or she will shove her head into my lap. She is so sweet i dont see how anyone could not pay attention to her.

She obviously havent been getting anything to chew on either, her teeth bled when i first gave her a bone. But now they dont bleed at all, after just 2 little bones and she is currently in her crate chewing on a big bone we got for her (dont worry, A.j. got one too ).
The only commands that she truley know are "No" and "Come". But while she has been here (2 or 3 days), i have already almost taught her to back up, revealing that she is easy to train but hasnt been trained properly if at all.

Simetra was pretty good groomed, but her nails were really long and the hair in between her toes was non-trimmed, matted, and full of mud.

It feels bad to say that my freind took bad care of her, but this is all true.

She will be a great hunting dog. Just a few minutes ago i was outside with her and A.j. and i threw a ball into the air (its night here), and she knew exactly where it was going to land, while A.j. was standing there, swinging his head around, trying see it. Im not sure about Agility yet, she is good at getting the contact points, but she is really slow, but maybe that will make her a good Agility dog, i dont know yet.

My sister has given me a job for $10 a week (just small chores around the house), so every other week i will go get more food, bones, and toys. I dont know what i would do if it wasnt for my sister.

There is one thing though. I didnt ask my friend about it yet and i tend to think animals are pregnant when they arent, but im thinking its possible that Simetra is, but i will have to ask my friend and see. It is possible because she was locked in the same house with an un-fixed male dog for a couple of months, but she seems to guard herself while she is in heat. Anyway, she seems to be kind of flabby and a little hairless on her belly. Im hoping im just exaggerating and she is just flabby from bad nutrition. I think my mom would just about kill me if i accidentally adopted a pregnant dog, even though it would be a good experience with me (my mom and dad have helped a lot of Goldens give birth, but i never got to help, just watch).

Ok, sorry to type everyone to death and sorry if there are any bad grammar or mis-spelled words (its 11:42 PM here and im tired after training dogs in wind all day). I will still be posting new pictures of Simetra and my other dogs, but my brother still has my camera. I pinky-swear promise that i will have pictures by tomarrow night, that is, if it is sunny tomarrow. It has been sunny for 3 days straight now, so im pretty sure ill be able to get those pictures!

Sounds like you are doing very well with Simetra. I'm sorry to hear she's in bad shape. It's unfortunate when people don't properly care for their dogs, especially a sporting/working breed.

Can't wait for pictures, and here's hoping to great progress with her! She already sounds as though she'll do very well!

She is a cutie and i'm glad she is settling in it sounds as though she has my dog Gracie's personality. I didn't know you got another dog until I read this post. Ask your friend how long ago she was in heat and maybe ask your vet what they think about it.

Thanx everyone! Unfortunatly, the sun isnt out today, but i will still take some pictures, i just have to wait till my brother comes in from the studio. He smokes and the smoke gives me a headache, so i have to wait for him. He should come in soon because he doesnt have a bathroom in the studio. Once i get some pictures, ill post them as soon as i can.

Sorry, everyone, but you're going to have to wait one more day for pictures. I told my brother that i needed my camera, but he didnt give it back yet and now a big raincloud has rolled in. Hopefully it will be sunny tomarrow so i can get my camera first thing in the morning and take a bunch of pictures and maybe videos.

I finally got some pictures! They arent very good, but i will get some more tomarrow of A.j. and Simetra playing outside.

I am really starting to think Simetra is pregnant. She seems to be losing hair slowly on her belly and her belly is really flabby. Also she is all of a sudden VERY lazy and sweet and is eating a lot more than usual. I dont know if this could be because she is relieved to be in a good home now, or if she truley is pregnant.

I hope for you she is not pregnant and simply adjusting to the wonderful home and all the love there. A change like that can also tire a girl out. Time will tell, but in the mean time she is very lucky to have you and A.J.

They are both adorable! She looks like she is fitting in well. How long have you had her? Did you ask the previous owner how long ago she was in heat? Another good thing to know was what breed and size the intact male was. Also I agree with taking her to the vet to find out for sure if she is pregnant.

Rivsky, i asked my mom but she said we should wait to take her to the vet until we think she has something serious, my family doesnt have much money so we dont want to use the vet money on a pregnancy check. If i find out that she isnt pregnant but is still really lazy and eats a lot, ill probably take her to a vet then. Thanx!


I finally got some pictures of Simetra and A.j. playing. There was a storm coming so it isnt very sunny in the pictures, but once the sun does pop out im going run out and take some more pictures.

Thanx! Ive had her for about 3 days now. Not yet, im going to call her today and ask about Simetra and ask her why she dumped her cat on our property. If Simetra is pregnant, i think i know what male it was, same dog that her mother got pregnant off of the last time she got pregnant. I dont know what breed he is, but he is a toy-sized breed, about the size of a Papillon, i think. He is cute, but i dont usually get along with the smaller breeds. I think he would be a lot more handsom if someone hadnt cut his coat.
