Cocker or Springer?

My parents bought a puppy about 2 months ago. It was called, by the breeder, a cocker spaniel. The breeder claims to have papers on her and told us that she is sending our dog's papers soon.

We assumed the pup was a cocker until we took it to be groomed. We told the groomer that we had a cocker puppy, but when we showed the dog to them they said it is a springer spaniel not a cocker spaniel. They said that they could tell by the fur on the legs.

My question is how to distinguish a cocker spaniel from a springer spaniel.

They're different breeds... Compare your puppy to each breeds standard and appearence.

What I usually use to tell them apart is size. Springers are bigger. However, I don't know how big they'd be as a puppy.

Perhaps you have an English Cocker Spaniel, they look closer to Springers than American Cocker Spaniels do and their feathering (hair on legs) is similar.
Here is the English Cocker Spaniel club of America website http://www.ecsca.org/ .

Yeah post a picture. Many Cockers can have a fair bit of fur on them. Is it from working lines?
