Any German Pointer owners?

I own/breed/show/train German Pointers 4 are German Short Haired Pointers and 1 is a German Longed Haired Pointer. I love this breed they are awsome working dogs and great family pets. They are all great with my 2 daughters and their friends. Anyone else own a German Pointer of any coat type?

Question I have a german shorthair pointer

HI!,
My parents have a german shorthair. She is 1 and 1/2 years old. Shes a great dog, very affectionate and loving. She is not used for hunting so she is a very spoiled pup. My parents never took her to obediance school or tried to teach her anything. I taught her how to sit and lay down and roll over but thats as far as she has gone. She refuses to come when called and runs wild if she gets out of the backyard. She has some habits i would like to know if anyone could help me with. She feels all food is her food. SHe jumps on people to try and knock their food off and jumps on cournter and tables looking for things to lick. She steals things and runs around the house with them and wont give them up when told to. She chews everything she can get her hands onto, even her own toys. Then she gets sad and even more distructive when we take the lil bits of whats left away so she doesnt choke. She also runs behind a chair in our living room and growls and nips behind it. She will take anything she has nabbed from the house and chews it there. I`m hoping to get her to stop chewing all her toys to shreds, to have her stop growling and hiding behind the chair, get her to give up things she steals, and stop her from jumping on people and counters. please help!

My family has owned German Shorthairs for over 20 years. I grew up with them. We hunted chukar, dove, quail, and pheasant....but mostly chukar. They are a fantastic breed! My parents lost thier last Shorthair to old age two years ago and haven't been able to bring themselves to get another one. I know they want one but still miss their baby girl.

Hate to bump a old thread, but I will use it as my introduction to this forum. Here is Otto my 2 year old rescue GSP.

We hope to learn a lot from the other "bird dog" owners around here.
