Advertising pupies

Hi every one! i wasn't sure where this thread really belonged so i placed it here in the breeding conerns as it kinda falls in to that area i guess
I was just looking at the google ads before at the tops of the pages on this site and noticed that some of them are advertising pups for sale. Is this a good thing to advertise for the site?
how do you know they are not puppy farms or such things? Has any one ever bought their pup from a web site? All the ones i have looked in to (i may be wrong) seem to be on the strange side as in either breeding designer pups or have a LOT of pups to seel all at the same time.
Just seems like a very bad idea to me and i know that control is pretty easy over these ads.

The staff I believed have discussed this once before while thinking of new things to add or get rid of on the site. I believe the administrator (Jeff and Kendra) said that they were unable to filter out the specific ads you are speaking of. CrossfireBulldogs could probably tell you a little bit more about this. But I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to get the certain ads off.

I have often thought about this and the same thing.... but without the ads who is going to pay for the site and the bandwidth, it is what keeps the site free to use and allows us to really encourage people to be responsible.....
yes they annoy me
and I can't say It hasn't enterred my mind like it has yours but I can see why they are there and have just resigned myself to living with it.

Hi thanks for the replies I know some one who is a web developer and he has done a site for a friend where this same problem came up. Apparently you can cancel certain ads by putting the ones you dont want in to a filter. It doesnt make much sense to me as i have never worked with them but apparently is should do to the person who placed the ads on the site
I dont want to step on any ones toes but from the time i became a member of this group i have noticed most if not all are deadly against puppy farms and buying online ect (remember the e-bay thread) so thought i would give it a mention. I have never taken notice really to the google ads but have kept an eye out since my friend had the ads on his site.
at the end of the day why keep them there if there is no need to?

This is something that we're in the process of doing, yes ads can be blocked, it's a matter of sending the individual links to Google and advising them that we want those particular ads filtered out.

It takes time, everytime I sign on and see a less than reputable puppy ad I copy the link, when I have a list of about 50 or so they are sent in. Google is huge so it will take some time before we start seeing a decrease in that type of advertising but rest assured we are working on it.

Hi Crossfire, thanks for your reply I do realise how big google world is (my boyfriend often bores me with the details lol) and i also realise that it takes time to filter all these ads out. I just wanted to be sure in myself that it had been recognised and something was being done or that you realised it could be done. To be honest i have not noticed an awful lot of the ads on here it seems to be the odd one. One is too many though hey?
Good luck in getting rid of them all and thanks for putting my mind at rest!

I appreciate you bringing it to our attention Sharon, it speaks volumes of you as a dog owner when you voiced your concern on the ads.....thank you for being a concerned doggie parent and voice for our four legged friends! I'd give you more puppy points if I could!
