What about a swap shop

What about a swap shop for doggy items we no longer need where we can sell or swap?

Like an auction area? That is actually a very good idea...I could perhaps whip something up in the coming months. That's a big project, which would require a lot of legal disclaimers too...but I like the idea.

I like the general idea but can see several problems coming from it....

Enough legality issues to make your head spin.

No way of enforcing any type of action other than banning someone should an item not be delivered as promised.

Folks who won't bother to read the rules of the "shop" and place live animals as well as other things up for bid that shouldn't be there. Would make for a full time job just to monitor all the submissions as fast as this site is growing.

I really do like the main idea here and I don't mean to put a damper on everyone's spirits but I can see this going really wrong very fast. jmo

I myself would only allow those admission to the actual auction area based on time of membership and so on. I wouldn't allow new members and so on that's for sure. It would take some serious planning but in the end if handled the correct way with proper planning I think it might be good. Maybe start out with only a member swap and see how that goes (no money involved). Maybe even call it "Member Swap and Sell"..kind of thing in the future.

Well, we would have money auctions, but there would be an escrow service available. And, members who use the auctions will have reputation systems available, so they know if previous members did well with them.

And, afterall, this system would not work work well until we have several thousand members...so we'll have some time to fix any problems.

I've found a much nicer auction program, and when I recover from the economic dent from Christmas upon my checkbook, I shall purchase it.
