animated gifs?

That would be cool and fun to be able to put up animated gifs. Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. I know some forums can do that by clicking that icon on top that says insert image.

Are you asking for hosted .gifs, or the ability to post .gifs in a thread, post, or signature?

I have a cazillion gifs stored in "my pictures" and other folders....I mean a LOT...and on some other message boards we can do that....click the insert image icon on the message board and then it takes you to "my pictures" on your own computer, what is stored there and then you can put a gif onto the message board post. Then if someone wants to have it in their collection, they can pick it right straight off of the post by right clicking and clicking on save picture as and it goes to their "my pictures." It's fun. You can share pictures and gifs that way. I have some very cute doggie gifs.

oh, I see what you mean...I can look for the hack to do this...but it could really be a breech of security.

I am turning an old PC into a server to tinker with...when I get it set up in a couple of weeks, I can provide free image hosting for anyone, if you wish. We'll see how that will go.

Anyway, I'll take a look around for the proper modification.

What exactly is free image hosting? You don't need to supply the images with what I'm thinking of. Or is that just a "vehicle" to make this work? I am quite computer challenged, I must say.

What you are speaking of could pose a huge security breech...what I am offering is an alternative.

Free image hosting is where I give you space on a server, and then you can remotely link to it, so it shows up in a post...for example...I'll remotely link to the globalpaw logo.



If this is to happen, it won't happen for the next month of so...as I need to configure "Sparkey", which is the newest server I am adding. Its called Sparkey because its very old, and will be running off my internet connection in my basement...and image hosting is about all it can handle.

And, for the record, this site is not hosted on Sparkey...its hosted on my professional server with 1and1, named "Quincy"

Thanks Quincy, I still don't quite get it. I wonder how some of these other websites do it without making a security breach. All I know is we could click the insert image icon and it would take us to our very own "my pictures" and then we'd be able to choose one of our gifs and stick it on the post. But anyhow, I'll let you, the computer wiz figure it out. Thanks bunches.

lol, tell you what...I'm going to finish up these ads, then I will send a call to the folks over at vbulletin.org for a hack...and we'll see if I can get it safe.
