Lightbulb Some suggestions

Since you asked dogs4life, I thought of some suggestions.

1. Move to the Dog Groups forums to a sub forum in another forum (such as Dog Breeding). They do not seem to get too many posts, and takes up a bit of room on the main page.

2. Change the current blue theme to something else. It would look a bit better with a different theme and color.

3. Minor thing: There is a dead link to the Dog Chat on the bottom of the page.

Just some suggestions for you to think about.

Thanks, Dave!

I've been wondering the fate of Dog Groups too, right now they are not inviting for discussion.

I'm conflicted though, I like the idea of having groups but the current groups are not "international" only AKC, which I'm not too fond of since we are "Global" Paw. I'm thinking of adopting the FCI groupings and opening subforums for each breed acknowledged by the AKC, UKC, FCI, Canadian KC, KC (UK) and other well known kennel clubs. Am I dreaming

I'm not really sure though, love to hear your thoughts

Thanks,

Kendra

PS I'll look into the other ideas too while Sam is napping

I agree that the dog groups should be inclusive of more breeds, but I don't think we need to limit ourselves to breeds recognised by kennel clubs. Lets include all (actual established) breeds and leave the Misc forum for all the fantastic mutts out there.

Cass.

That would be great Cass but I'm worried about controversial breeds like Australian Kelpie, McNab, Labradoodles and many more. I know, Kelpies might not be a controversial breed in Australia or New Zealand but it's kinda frowned upon here in the US I'm not sure what other countries feel about that breed either.

I personally have no issue with most of the breeds, but I'm worried about "keeping the peace". That's why I took the "weenie" route and picked Kennel Club recognized breeds.

Do you think we can keep it civil if we add more breeds?

Kelpies? Kelpies have been an established and recognised purebreed for a LONG time. What on earth would be controversial about them?
I see what you mean with the others though. So sticking to kennel club recognised breeds might be smarter. But certainly extend it to include other kennel clubs like ANKC, CKC (canadian), KC and UKC.

Cass.

I know, many are shocked, but it's true. Its hard for Kelpie owners and breeders to show and trial their dogs here in the US. They are popular with cattle ranchers, for obvious reasons, but to show your dog is another story. There are only a handful of clubs that recognize the breed I think they are wonderful but it's taking the US a while to warm up.

Yes, yes....I just forgot ANKC, New Zealand and other English speaking countries by accident, sorry, that means Kelpies would be included. We can start another thread about the ones we need to include.
